House Guests

I get a lot of house guests since moving to Austin but maybe this one can hang out for a little bit. No, it’s not mine and yes, there are more photos to come. Sit tight…

Keith Anderson: Wilting Rose

Keith Anderson: Wilting Rose

It’s really hard to not post just about every photo Keith Anderson puts up on his Flickr, but it’s impossible to not post this one in particular. He recently acquired a De Rosa, fit for restoration and knowing Keith’s work, it’ll be over the top. I really loved the wilting paint shown here though.

Merckx Mondays

Molteni shirts? Sure! These aren’t quite available yet but when they are, I’ll letcha know. They’re gonna be good and that’s not the only Eddy Merckx-inspired shirt for this week’s Merckx Mondays. There’s one more shirt in today’s post, along with a crazy Merckx time trial bike, sent in by a reader.

Check out more Merckx Mondays below!

Wilis’ Daccordi Pista

Reportage

Wilis’ Daccordi Pista

If you’ve known Wilis from Milk Money and King Kog for any amount of time, you’ll know that he has a Daccordi’ction. He can’t pass up a good deal on these Italian steeds. While I was shooting some photos for my Shop Visit to King Kog (still to come), I took his Daccordi pista out for some lens love. The Campagnolo and Cinelli build paired with the monotone frame is one of the more subdued builds I’ve seen come from his stable but I like the simplicity here. Especially with the deep drop of the 3T bars and the Grammo stem.

Gage + DeSoto: Summertime 84 Jersey

Gage + DeSoto: Summertime 84 Jersey

This is so sick. Leave it to Gage + DeSoto to knock this out of the park!

“We’re always bummed about our choices in jerseys when summer is in full swing, so – inspired by some of our favorite brands in the mid 80s – we decided to do something about it.

Starting with a classic white lightweight jersey from our friends at Sommerville Sports, we put together what we think will be our go-to jersey this season. These have a “club cut” for extra comfort, so we suggest you size down from what would normally be a race cut. (i.e., if you’re a Medium, order a Small).”

Doug Dalrymple: Barrington St.

Doug Dalrymple: Barrington St.

Photos by Doug Dalrymple

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Doug’s Tumblr, the Job. His candid street portraiture keeps getting better and case in point are these two shots from Barrington St in Halifax, N.S. Usually, Doug rolls around every day with his kit of lenses and bodies, in his messenger bag or backpack, capturing NYC at its finest but these two are from his recent touring expedition up the east coast, into Canada. Every Bike Shop Has One Photo

And this is King Kog‘s. Tracko always gives me a hard time about not looking around enough, but maybe he’s into this? I’m adding this to a series of prints I hope to have at the end of the month. Who’d buy one?

Reader’s Rides: Guilherme’s De Rosa SLX Professional

Photos by Guilherme Rosa

As you might have guessed, the Reader’s Rides posts are hard to stay on top of. I get so many emails from people showing me their latest rides and I can’t conceivably post them all (yet). For now, I’m relying on people like Guilherme who posses a great eye for composition, as well as a Beautiful Bicycle. His De Rosa SLX Professional caught my eye. Perhaps it’ll catch yours too.

Northside Wheelers

Reportage

Northside Wheelers

How about a nice change of pace? Let’s leave NAHBS for a second and travel to OZ. Melbourne is a cyclist’s haven for rich, vibrant culture and South Yarra seems to be the epicenter. You’ve got Shifter BikesFYXO Hub and Northside Wheelers all in the same area, running completely different businesses and yet, they’re all contributing to the greater good. With big-brand concept stores everywhere, it’s hard to find a shop that shows cycling history and sells part of the insignia that goes along with it.

The golden age of cycling is still alive, but in small circles. Northside Wheelers is a shop that sells cycling apparel and goods. Think of it as a clothing shop for the bike fanatic in your life. From Creux to Rapha, books, magazines, goods and even some vintage apparel, Malachi Moxon over at Northside Wheelers has everything you need to get you styled out for a ride.
