I missed posting the first chapter of the Ryokou series, so here’s chapter 1 and 2.

“Zak’s racing career began as a courier, competing in local courier races, twice winning the North American Cycle Courier “Track King” title. He segued into racing on the velodrome and worked his way through the ranks quickly.

2011 saw Zak winning the Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge points race, the biggest race of the year at his home track, defeating arch rival Jame Carney. At the Fixed Gear Classic in Blaine, MN, Zak and long time madison partner Dan Harm won the madison, competing against long time Six Day pro Franco Marvulli.

Zak still works occasionally as a courier, but his main focus is on moving up to the next level in his racing career. His dream until not long ago was to race pro six days in Europe…”

…and I can’t wait to see the whole thing!

You pumped yet? The Red Bull Mini Drome Event in Brooklyn is going to be quite the party.

“100 bicycle speed freaks will initially race against the clock for ten laps around this mini version of a typical velodrome, usually located in arenas or outside and typically cover about 100,000 square feet. The field will get narrowed down to 32, who will race head-to-head in a bracket style competition- a different kind of March madness.”

Saturday, March 23rd, the Red Bull Mini Drome is heading into NYC, specifically, the old Bushwick Church in Brooklyn. This is the first time the Mini Drome has made it to NYC, so it’s going to be a great night.

I’ve made it half way through this and had to share it. Victoria Pendleton is the definition of a dedicated spokeswoman for cycling. Period. Professional cycling needs more of this and less of Oprah Winfrey. Thanks for sharing Tracko!

I just caught this over on the Affinity blog and had to give it some love. Kimberly Edwards won the UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championships scratch and match race medals on her XS Kissena. So rad!

This is awesome and yes, a little late but a viewer emailed it over and I hadn’t seen it before. I wanna see Hoy on the trials bike and you’d think they would have changed out the 48:16 gearing on Danny’s bike. Still, two of biggest names in Scottish cycling coming together like this is rad.

Anytime I put up a post about a poster or an illustrator, a reader always recants with another. It’s like a viscous cycle (literally). It’s not often however that I see one that I like. Leo Espinosa‘s work is the exception though. This piece, along with others on his portfolio site are great. See for yourself.

I see a lot of bike posters these days but few speak to the technically-mindful architect in me like this one entitled “Velo” by Graphical Shop. Check out more details here.
