The Radavist Redback Kits are Shipping This Week

Hey guys, sorry for the delay, I wanted to make sure I had enough stem caps and stickers to put inside each order before the kits went out. They’ll be going out this week. Those who are emailing me, asking about a pre-order. It’ll go up Friday. I wanted to get this first run shipped out.

I will be doing women’s jerseys and would consider doing cycling shorts (alternative for women to wearing men’s bibs), if there is enough of an interest. So, if you’re a woman and would prefer shorts, over men’s bibs, let me know so I can add a line item.

Thanks for your patience! Hugs and kisses.

The Radavist 2014 Calendar: July

This is the seventh layout of the Radavist 2014 Calendar, entitled “Light, Mate!”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

I know summer is exploding in the Northern Hemisphere right now, but Down Unda’, in ‘Straya, it’s the middle of winter. We just finished a big ride and I thought I’d celebrate July’s calendar with some proper #lightbro!

The Radavist Redback Kit

Radar

The Radavist Redback Kit

It’s merely by coincidence that I’m in Australia when this kit was completed at Endo Customs in Los Angeles but it worked out perfectly. My original concept for doing the Radavist’s first kit was looking to nature for inspiration, particularly venomous animals you might encounter in the woods or while camping.

The Black Widow spider (USA), or in this case, the Redback spider (OZ) has a far worse reputation than its bite, yet the population fears it. An all-black spider, with a bright red marking on its abdomen will induce your fight or flight response. These kits were an homage to nature’s way of visual coding… The same marking makes it visible in the woods as you’re ripping trails, or on a road climb.

Marked with “Rubber Side Up” on the drive-side leg, the Radavist Jackal on the other, the script logo across the chest, on the lower back and the raidō r-rune from the Elder Futhark on the upper back of the bib, it’s a straight forward, yet classic kit that hopefully will become your staple.

Price is $270 + shipping for the bibs and jersey. I’m only selling this paired for this round. That means you get a medium jersey and medium bibs in each order, along with some stickers and a stem cap. This is not a pre-order, these kits are in stock and will ship this week.

SORRY SOLD OUT but thanks to FYXO for the photos!

The Radavist Flag

Radar

The Radavist Flag

Annin is the oldest flag maker in the USA. They use a special UV-coating on their inks during the sublimation process that keeps their flags bright and the designs clear for years. I got a small batch made and am selling them for $100 USD, shipped worldwide. It’s a strange product, at a high pricepoint, but the margins are almost non-existent on small runs (I’m making $15 a flag). I’d love to be able to afford to order thousands, instead of tens, but this is all I can do right now.

Each flag will be shipped today and will come packed with stickers, decals and top caps. Pick one up below and I hope to see these at your local cross races, bike shops, or wherever you chose to fly them!

The Radavist HQ

Reportage

The Radavist HQ

June has been a crazy month for me. After months of searching, I finally came across an office space that was too good to pass up. The price was right, the location was right and it met my current needs with room for growth.

Since starting PiNP back in 2005/2006, I have always operated from home. In the almost ten years this website has been in operation, it’s seen a lot of growth, which has taken its toll on me in more ways than one. If you work from home, you’re well aware of what I mean. Having a separation from work and home is important.

For those of you who have visited me in my Austin home, you probably remember what a clusterfuck my office was. Boxes, tires, bikes, jerseys, caps, bottles, thrown everywhere, awaiting organization, or use. It was a stressful environment and I felt like I never got anything done.

I needed somewhere soothing to work from, that I could commute to and enjoy spending time post-processing photos, or having meetings, or just working on the day to day operations but one of the things I’m most stoked about with these new digs is having a place to display products that I’ve bought or accumulated over the years.

Finding furniture was a bit of a hurdle, but I got some great deals on some truly unique pieces.

With the Radavist HQ, I hope to create a space that represents my intent with the site. It’s getter there, but I’m liking how it’s all coming together. The next time you’re in Austin, hopefully I’m around and hopefully I’ll be able to open my doors, pour you a glass of bourbon and maybe even go for a ride…

Check out the progress in the Gallery.

SOLD OUT: The Radavist Script Pocket T-Shirt

When I approached LAND here in Austin to do the branding for The Radavist, I gave them a few requests. One of which being a spirit animal. I wanted it to be a severe abstraction of a bicycle wheel. The resulting image was a jackal, with a back that was scarred from falling and a long tail that it walks on, much like a tire tread.

The other reference is pretty straight forward. I’ve always loved the Leica logo, so we took some cues from it for the script logo. Both of these elements represent what I believe the Radavist embodies.

I’m very happy with the branding as a whole, LAND did an amazing job mixing in elements from obscure references like the Elder Futhark, which we’ve seen on other t-shirts. There’s more to come this week, in terms of products, but we’ll start off with a summer staple: the white pocket tee.

These American Apparel pocket t-shirts were printed by Industry here in Austin and are $25 + shipping.

SOLD OUT: The Radavist Talisman Pocket T-Shirt

In Elder Futhark, the rune raidō means “ride or journey”. It is the mark of the Radavist. This rune is part of the talisman logo featured on the front pocket. On the rear, the spirit animal of the Radavist, a jackal with a scarred back that walks on its tail and the motto “Rubber Side Up”.

These American Apparel pocket tees were printed using natural discharge ink at Industry Print Shop here in Austin. After a few washes, you won’t even feel where the print was. Make sure you wash them before wearing.
