SOLD OUT: The Radavist Berserkir Pocket T-Shirt

One of my favorite stories from Norse Mythology relates to nature’s impact on man. Scandanavian warriors would often wear the skin of a bear or a wolf before entering battle, resulting in the spirit of the animal possessing them in battle. As Odin’s personal army the Berserkir were known for ferocity as well as loyalty as they fought for the pack leader. In fact the Old Norse word berserkir, literally translates to “bear-shirt” and was soon called “going berserk.”

Venturing into the woods, be it during an expedition, or just an everyday ride, we too can find ourselves transformed. Every time we push ourselves on the bike, or subsequently find ourselves pushed off the bike, we grow – #RubberSideUp. This introspective experience not only shapes us as riders, but it continues to strengthen our relationship with nature. If anything deserves respect, it’s the woods.

This image of the Berserkir, or Úlfhéðnar, is further empowered by the Norse protection symbol, the Vegvísir, which is a direction sign that enables you to stay the course without being lost. Something extremely beneficial to cyclists.

Drawn by Kyler Martz and screened in Austin by Industry Printshop, these American Apparel pocket tees are $25 + shipping. Available in black and white. These will ship this week. Expect around a 2-week delivery time for international orders. Scoop one up below.

New Changes to Social Media for 2015

You might have caught wind of this already, but this morning, I switched over from the @JohnProlly handle to @theRadavist. If you were previously following @JohnProlly on Instagram and Twitter, it’s already switched to @theRadavist. If you want to follow my personal accounts on Instagram and Twitter, do so at @JohnProlly.

My reasoning was I would be able to showcase more of the contributor’s work, allow “take-overs” during events and most importantly, grow the community surrounding the site. There are a lot of big projects in the works this year and I can’t wait to share them with you, not just through my lens, but through other’s as well.

Happy New Year.

The Radavist’s 10 Favorite Products of 2014

Look, none of us are exactly stoked on how consumer driven our world is. It should be about the ride, or the experience you get from being on a bike with friends, not who has the newest product or component. Yet, unfortunately to some, it is. To some extent anyway. Over here at the Radavist, we’re aware of this conundrum, but we’ll always try to steer you in the right direction when it comes to products. Remember, buy local when you can! You’re local bike shop needs you.

Check out some of our favorite products of 2014 below. Just try not to end up with an empty wallet, ok?

The Radavist Raidō Rider Longsleeve T-Shirt

Radar

The Radavist Raidō Rider Longsleeve T-Shirt

Raidō, or “the ride”, and Algiz, or “protection”, two runes from the Elder Futhark which hold special meaning to the Radavist. Depending on orientation, these runes’ meaning can change, so the inverted pattern ensures a safe journal and arrival. With the Talisman on the back and the Jackal on the front, this shirt has all the markings of the Radavist.

Printed on American Apparel black longsleeve tees with eco-friendly discharge ink here in Austin by Industry Print Shop, these shirts are $40 shipped to the USA only! Sorry to international orders, but with the holidays rapidly approaching, I want to ensure people can receive their orders in time.

Pick one up below! SORRY SOLD OUT!

The Radavist 2014 Calendar: December

This is the twelfth layout of the Radavist 2014 Calendar, entitled “Dirt Church”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

Meditation comes in many forms. Some look to religion to clear their minds, others take to the sacred woods for a bit of dirt church…

The Radavist Holiday Kinda Sorta Need List

The Radavist Holiday Kinda Sorta Need List

Let’s face it, if you’re reading this blog, chances are, you don’t really need anything, in the survival sense. Sure, the holidays are great for many things, most of which bearing more importance than sharing gifts. Bike rides, warm drinks, hiking, camping, all of which are for the most part, free for you to share with friends and family.

That said, it’s a lot of fun sharing gifts and whatever, it’s a once a year kinda thing. Most of these gifts are gauged around lifestyle and camping but all have a place in your day-to-day use.

Every holiday season, we compile a list of products that have piqued our interest here at the Radavist. Most of which are made domestically, be it Japan, Germany, the US and the UK. This year, because I know everyone’s on a budget we’re doing it a bit different, offering up alternatives that are more affordable… Only because I don’t want this list to be alienating.

When you can, buy locally. Did you know your local bike shop can also order camping gear from QBP? Now you do!

SOLD OUT: Radavist Raidō Rune Top Caps

I can’t keep these in stock and as it seems, after each batch of 100 sells out, I get dozens of emails, so here ya go, another re-up of the Radavist Raidō Rune Top Caps. In the Elder Fuþark, a rune’s orientation effects its intended power. That goes for Raidō as well. Inverted, mirrored, off-axis all have consequences. Which orientation do you run yours?

Made in the USA by KustomCaps and featured in Bicycling Magazine this month. Seriously, no joke. Swoop one up below for $12 shipped worldwide.

Sold Out: The Radavist Slipmats

I’d like to think and hope that a lot of you listen to vinyl, or have always listened to vinyl. If either of those is the case, then check out these new, nifty slipmats. Black logo printed on super dense, somewhat rigid felt (the good stuff), each mat will ship in a padded mailer and easily outlive your tires.

Shipping these is pricier than I’d like, but they’re still $10 Domestic and $15 International. Limited run of 100. Scoop one up below!

The Radavist and Fairends Cotton Camp Hat

Radar

The Radavist and Fairends Cotton Camp Hat

I’ve known Ben from Fairends since the Freeman Transport days (R.I.P.) and I’ve always loved his made in the USA products. Camp hats are great. Also called twill caps, they’re a staple for any wardrobe. Personally, I prefer black caps, but in the summer, they get soaked in sweat, so I wanted to wait until fall to sell these.

These camp hats are the blackest ever black cotton, with a Jackal embroidered on the front, with grey inlay and the Radavist script text on the back. The construction is super solid and the embroidery is impeccable.

-100% Cotton Twill
– Unstructured cotton body
– One size fits all, adjustable with nylon webbing strap and plastic closure
– Made in the USA

$48 + Shipping ($5 domestic, $12 international) – each will come with stickers and a high five.

SOLD OUT: The Radavist Sigil 26oz Purist Bottles

I’m a pretty simple guy when it comes to products. I like black jerseys, black t-shirts, black decals and yes, black bottles. You can’t sell black on black though, so for the Radavist’s first bottles, I went with the Specialized’s Purist in a 26oz (it’s summer, drink up!), Watergate top, trans grey with black printing. Printed with “The Radavist” “Rubber Side Up” on the top and the Jackal with the Rune Sigil on the bottom.

These will look good on any bike and even better a bit scuffed up.

Swoop up a set (2 bottles) below for $25 shipped in the US, $35 shipped worldwide. SORRY SOLD OUT Each set will come with stickers.
