Introducing The Radavist Edition Sklar Super Something Gravel Bikes

Today we’re elated to present our Radavist Edition Sklar Super Something bikes. We worked with Adam Sklar to create two unique and exclusive paint finishes, which we’ve dubbed “Burgundy Something” and “Super Splatter,” and have five build kits ranging from a coaster cruiser to an ENVE-clad race machine. These are available today, shipping from our parent company, The Pro’s Closet, in our Radavist shop.

There’s a lot to go over here, so let’s get to it!

In Stock For Now: The Radavist Edition Ombraz Dolomite Sunnies

In the coming year, we’ll be rolling out quite a few product collaborations we’re proud of, with the first being this Radavist edition Ombraz Dolomite sunnies. For those unfamiliar, Ombraz designs armless sunglasses that are virtually indestructible. Or, perhaps I should say, more robust than standard sunnies. Without arms, these glasses pack down flat, making them easy to store in a pocket, and since they rely on a cord to tighten, can be hung around your neck when not in use with ease. I’ve been wearing Ombraz since the brand’s inception and have been hooked, prompting this collaboration. Let’s check it out below.

Announcing the Arik Roper Capsule Collection for The Radavist

When it comes to creating fantasy landscapes for bands like Sleep, High On Fire, Earth, Windhand, and Weedeater, there’s none like Arik Roper. His iconic imagery has graced some of the finest metal LPs, from “Blessed Black Wings” to “The Bees Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull.”

We pinged Arik earlier this spring to design a graphic for us to incorporate onto some merch items and it’s finally available via our webshop. Let’s look at this extremely limited edition drop in detail below…

Like a repair kit, a packable, just-in-case layer is something we always throw on the bike before setting off, but like many things bike-related, we felt we needed to tweak the standard to achieve our ideal iteration. In collaboration with California-based cycling apparel manufacturer, Voler, our new Feldspar Ride Jacket ($119.99) hits the mark. This super breathable, minimal, USA-made layer packs up to burrito size and provides the sweet spot in protection for most three-season riding. After thorough testing and design back-and-forth with Voler, the unisex Feldspar jacket is finally on our digital shelves, ready to ship to you today IRL. Let’s take a long exposure look at them below…

At The Radavist, we look to the natural world and our unique Rocky Mountain locale for inspiration. The riding around Santa Fe occupies a semi-arid steppe, and native shade trees are scarce in these foothills. As such, dense juniper forests are often the backdrop to our rides, and we’re grateful for the shade these hearty, low-lying trees cast to counter the sun’s high UV radiation in these parts (an unfortunate byproduct of life at 7000′).

It’s during the fading hours of the day that these groves become truly radiant as the dappled light of sunset filters through their scrubby branches, onto the trail, and ourselves. On a ride, last winter, our product designer Cari Carmen snapped a photo of this dappled light hitting my shirt and commented that it would make a cool pattern for a cycling jersey. And so began our journey on The Radavist Juniper Dapple Jerseys with Ocean & San, a Los Angeles-based cycling apparel company. A year in the making, these limited-release jerseys are now in stock at our webshop, but let’s look at them in detail below.

Bike Touring the Rainbow Rim Trail on The Radavist x Mosaic GT-2X Bikes

Arizona is one of the most remarkable states in the lower 48. From saguaro-covered mountains to forests of ponderosa pine, the ecotonal shift across the state’s expansive footprint is only bested by the geologically awesome Grand Canyon. That’s part of the appeal of the mighty Arizona Trail, right? To see the state in its entirety from top to bottom. While the AZT might not be for everyone, there’s another trail system on the rim of the Grand Canyon that is perfect for those looking for a truly unique and characteristically Arizona experience via a quick overnighter or even a day ride.

Once we had samples of our Radavist Edition Mosaic GT-2X bikes, I wanted to put them to the test and do a proper shake-down overnighter somewhere memorable and beautiful. Pulling together this project was quite the undertaking with supply chain issues still running rampant. Our trip kept getting pushed back into the summer months. It was edging on being too hot to tour our original route, so we looked to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and found a true gem of a ride, perfect for a weekend of sleeping out under the monsoon skies…

“Spend enough time in the Southwest and scenes like this will be commonplace. Spend a weekend on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and be prepared to have your mind melted at the spectacle.”

Beautiful Builds with John and His Rad Rod Firefly

The second video in our Beautiful Builds series showcases John Watson, the founder of The Radavist’s “Rad Rod” Firefly gravel/all-road bike. Back in 2014, he commissioned Firefly to make him a “gravel” bike before there were gravel bikes. This bike has a road geometry with ‘cross bike clearances and cable routing.

This year’s retrospective includes a look at our highest traffic pieces. These articles really blew up, bringing in a lot of comments, backlinks, social media posts, and traffic. While it should come as no surprise, most are bike reviews but a few of these galleries are seminal bits of Reportage. In this list are nine Reportage articles and one Radar, so let’s jump right in!
