The Radavist 2015 Calendar: December

This is the twelfth and final layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “#LASucksForCycling”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

All those cars, that impenetrable smog and no dirt, anywhere. That’s the perception of Los Angeles, yet explore the #LASucksForCycling hashtag and you’ll see a whole different side of LA. It’s been a fun few months living here and I can only imagine how this website will grow with new roads to ride, people to meet, bikes to document and stories to be told…

The Radavist 2015 Calendar: October

This is the tenth layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Chill-AY-OH!”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

They say happy cows come from California, but I’m pretty sure that implies to us animals as well. As nature drops a nuke on the Angeles Forest, we cooked it back to the safety of big city living, but not before a post-ride pizza pie.

The Radavist 2015 Calendar: September

This is the ninth layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Morning Wheelie”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

The Marin Headlands is an easily-accessed stomping grounds for many SF locals. Visible from the Golden Gate Bridge and Hawk Hill, trail runners, hikers and cyclists alike find refuge from the busy city life in its hills. Early mornings bring about a dense marine layer and piercing sunshine, which makes for an awe-inspiring experience. Throw in a wheelie and you’ve got all the ingredients for a killer photo.

This photo in particular was requested by multiple people to be the September calendar image. Thanks for the recommendation, y’all!

The Radavist 2015 Calendar: August

This is the eighth layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Los Padres”. The camera, film and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

With the summer in Texas, comes unbearable heat and an instinctual behavior to retreat to the far western reaches of the United States for some Cali vibes. The Los Padres mountains are by no means “cool” this time of year, but I’ll take an extra 15º any day. With tonality like this and endless possibles for road and dirt excursions, maybe it’s time to relocate… permanently.

This is the seventh layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Glacier”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

These mountains are unmistakable. They’re icons, sculpted by ice. Spanning from Canada and into Montana, Glacier National Park is one of the iconic national parks that borders the Tour Divide. Before dropping down into Polebridge for pastries and coffee, I had to stop to soak in this view as my fellow cyclists zoomed past, surfing ribbons of dust and gravel.

The Radavist 2015 Calendar: June

This is the sixth layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

The sixth month of the year is deservingly the most metal calendar image to date and those of you who are Wolves in the Throne Room fans will note its title. Upon scaling the Mountains of Madness, two recent graduates from Miskatonic University found themselves engulfed by a fog, as they fled from a pack of Shoggoths. Old Ones beware, you’re not catching these gravity bullies.

EDIT: Just re-upped the photo to high res, sorry for the initial low res download.

This is the fifth layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Marin’”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

Those SF locals will recognize this coastal road in Marin County with its swooping descent and gigantic switch back. I’m not sure what’s more beautiful, the scenery or the number of people cycling!

This is the third layout of the Radavist 2015 Calendar, entitled “Wet n Wild”. The camera and location are noted on the bottom left of the document.

Spring is almost here and with that means snowmelt will be filling the dry creek beds. The result: wet shoes will quickly be your companion on each ride. Here’s to the warmer months and soggy feet.

Out of all the photos shot on last year’s Oregon Outback, this one in particular continues to resonate and with this year’s event coming up soon, hopefully it’ll serve as inspiration to get you out on these roads…

Just because cross season is almost over, doesn’t mean you have to hang it up on the wall, or put road tires on it. Take that thing out on 1-track or 2-track and remember, #RubberSideUp
