Ben’s Argonaut Road

Reportage

Ben’s Argonaut Road

In a world where a majority of carbon fiber bicycle manufacturing is overseas, it’s rare to see someone not only building frames Stateside, but approaching customization in an entirely different way. That’s what Ben from Argonaut Cycles is doing with his custom carbon fiber road bikes. Everything from the weave to the molds is proprietary and made here in the USA. I got to spend 111 miles next to (well behind) this bike and I gotta say, it’s drop dead gorgeous in motion. Which is probably why I had a hard time photographing the thing at a stand still.

If you’re at the Dirt Demo today at Interbike, you can see this baby in person. If you can’t make it out, check out more photos below.

2013 Ritte Women’s Cycle Team Sponsor Book

For 2013 Ritte is bringing something different to their line and it’s not a new bike. Their women’s team was getting tired of winning every weekend so they figured they’d make it official. Check out the 2013 Ritte women’s cycle team sponsor book above.

A Golden Saddle Waterford Road

Reportage

A Golden Saddle Waterford Road

Chance are, you’ve got an older steel frame with either indexed or friction downtube shifters, an 8 speed cassette and some worked-over wheels. While a custom steel frame isn’t in everyone’s budget, chances are, a quick kick swap over is. Even SRAM Rival or Force can change a bike from a real pain to a real rocket to ride.

When a recent customer at Golden Saddle Cyclery brought in his old Waterford, the guys convinced him to go modern with it. And here’s the result. This beaut is ready for the HWY 2! Check out more below.

Argonaut’s New Face

Argonaut’s New Face

What would make a steel frame builder want to switch over to building bikes with locally-sourced carbon fiber? A new assemblage process, that’s what. Argonaut Cycles is currently developing a new carbon fiber frameset, unlike any other and last weekend, I got to visit the facilities where the frame pieces are created and the shop where the bikes are built.

More on this soon! All I can say is that I’m very honored to be a part of this roll-out. The parties involved with this project are all incredibly talented. If you really want to check out a cool photo, head to the Argonaut splash page

Souphorse for Bern

Souphorse for Bern

I shoot so many photos of people riding through the city that I don’t even consider this work anymore. It’s like a second nature. So when Bern asked me to shoot Billy “Souphorse” for their Interbike booth, we just headed out into the city like any other day. I’m very stoked on these photos and I can’t wait to see them printed up large at the Bern booth.

Dan Chabanov Got Himself a Camera

I’ve known Dan for many years and before he was a road or cross racer, he was a bike messenger and a photography student. This “shoot as you go” mentality has done him well and with a recent purchase, he’s been keeping his blog up to date with candid photography like this. You should really follow him on Tumblr and make sure you Ask him all the tough questions like “how can I win the Red Hook Crit next year?”.

Icarus Frames: Korosuke’s Road

Icarus Frames: Korosuke’s Road

Even if this bike didn’t have a feather on the headtube, or the name Icarus anywhere on it, I could still tell it’s from the shop of Ian Sutton. With everyone and their mother ripping this dude off, I’m glad to see Ian’s still got some detailing tricks up his sleeve.

That head tube badge is still one of the best out there! See more of Korosuke’s lovely road bike at Icarus Frames!
