The Radavist

Today might feel a bit foreign for all of us English speakers (i.e. previous video) and more familiar for the global readership. No matter what tongue people are speaking, we can all understand the universal language of cycling. Here’s part 1 and 2 of the “Riders United” project, episode 01, which focused on the Alps.

A now-bald friend dropped this on me tonight. Yes, it’s ok to laugh and cheers to the dude with the Knob Creek during “recovery day”.

A reader forwarded me a scan of this photo, featuring Eddy Merckx at the Miroir du Cyclisme in April 1975 during the Paris-Nice Prologue, while in the commune of Fontenay-sous-Bois. In his hand, a Merckx-branded, DeRosa-built road bike.

I’d love to see a modern take on this photo!

Andy from FYXO has quite the stable of bikes. In fact, I may be the only living American to ever visit his “man shed” and it’s pretty rad. This bike however, is my all time favorite. Classic Australian steel. See more of Andy’s Llewellyn at FYXO!

Kawasaki green kinda grows on you over time, but for some reason, I doubt anyone would object to having one of the new Speedvagen Road Machines in their stable. Check out more madness at the Speedvagen Flickr, you’ll be green with… ok nevermind. Just go look at the rad photos.

As the story goes, Vanilla is left with this 49cm road frameset to sell. Now, I know a Vanilla is out of most people’s price range, but I can’t get over how nicely detailed they all are. The best part about bicycle photography is that there’s no charge to look!

Say what you will about fancy paintjobs, with custom anodizing, but a murdered out black bike (albeit with a few color highlights) will still look so freaking rad. The latest from Firefly has me thinking about what color (or lack thereof) I’ll be painting mine.

I’ve been using Flickr for years. I love how easy it is to share photos and keep on top of your contact’s new uploads. One of my newest contacts is Breadwinner Cycles out of Portland. At last year’s NAHBS, I showed a glimpse of the Czech Republic-built Festka steel road bike. While it’s easy to get excited about the razzle-inspired paint job, I’m more interested in the Festka story. Both the steel and the carbon frames are made in, painted in and designed the Czech Republic. To me, that’s inspiring.

I’ll catch up with Festka at this year’s NAHBS in Charlotte for more. Until then, head over to their site.
