Ox Blood Red Stinner Frameworks Road

This machine was a piece of cake for Santa Barbara’s Aaron Stinner. Or rather, the customer was a piece of cake. As a returning client, he knew exactly what he wanted. Something simple, clean and efficient. The only stipulation was it had to have Dura Ace on it and a set of Luxe Wheelworks.

Aaron contacted Justin and they both got to pick out the wheels, leaving the rest of the frame for Aaron to design. The customer even let him pick the color scheme and and all the components.

It just happened to be Stinner’s 100th bike as well and the last bike to be built in his garage. Not a bad way to bid adieu to his hold shop, huh? See more below!

I’m Loving This Talbot Dalsnibba Road with Di2

Road technology, with regards to custom framebuilders, often flattens out and begins to form into a mesh of nuances, or details. Case in point is this new Talbot Dalsnibba road. Di2 is by no means new tech, yet the mixture of the rear brake placement, ISP, wishbone stay and sleeved lugwork makes me really want to comb this bike over, piece by piece with a camera. Reviewing bikes like the Cielo Road Racer is easy. Well, sort of. Isn’t the whole idea about a bike review to critically assess its potential for the market? That means looking and discussing honestly the strengths and the weaknesses.

Luckily, for Cielo, these were apparent after the first ride and continued to hold strong throughout the several weeks that the Road Racer Di2 was in my possession. Some of my critiques are merely aesthetic or tied in with the build kit on this particular bike.

Whatever my thoughts are, I can tell you, it’s gonna be tough to send her home.

Majaco True Temper Road

It’s been a while since I’ve shot a bike from Mark Majaco‘s shop here in Austin. Four years if I count correctly. In that time, we’ve both finely tuned our art. Well, I can speak for Mark anyway. This True Temper road bike is heading to the Philly Bike Expo and is a prime example of what Mark describes as a straight-forward, fillet brazed road frameset.

Built, painted and assembled in Austin, TX, these frames run under $2,000. Paired with Ultegra and you’ve got one solid machine…

Jeremiah Kille’s Chevron Caletti Ti Road

Jeremiah Kille is an artist in Santa Cruz, California and like John Caletti, he creates vibrant pieces of work, relying on geometry and color. This new titanium road was built to Jeremiah’s specifications, utilizing a plethora of chevrons, inspired both by the sunsets of Santa Cruz and classic surf culture of the 70’s.

The 2014 Interbike Super Duper Ginormous Gallery Day 01

Interbike. The necessary evil of the industry and the culmination of the year’s energy for me. 48 hours ago and we were in the Sequoias, now, we’re in the towering landscapes of Las Vegas, navigating the halls of the convention, seeing new and interesting products and longtime friends.

In an attempt to make my Interbike coverage as easy to digest as possible, I’ll be doing things a little different. Each day, I’ll upload around 80 photos, with the company’s name in the captions. If you have any questions, ask below and I’ll answer.

Truth is truth and I’ve seen the light. Literally. I have a set of these and unfortunately, I didn’t have time to put any miles on them yet but I can assure you, they look and feel amazing. Like all of Paul’s brakes, they’re machined and finished to the highest of standards.

You should know however, that Paul is marketing these for road and cross bikes only at the time being…

Giro Has Two Hot Caletti Road Bikes Inspired by Singer Porsches

Over at Giro, when they need bikes for their tradeshow booths, they simply look to the local builders in Santa Cruz. This year, when Eric Horton, the creative director at Giro wanted a new road bike for himself, along with a booth bike, he contacted John at Caletti Cycles.

The project was simple: make a pair of Columbus tubing, hydro disc brake, all-road, Di2 bikes that would tackle the surrounding hills and fire roads, all while matching the color palette of the Giro New Road line.

As many bicycles designed throughout history, Eric looked to classic sports cars for the paint-inspiration. His car of choice: the Singer Porsche.
