A Bishop road bike is a grail for many cyclists and with details like those found in Jim’s new classic road, it’s easy to see why. Check out more photos at the Bishop Flickr. I seriously love this bike!

Sunset Chasing Southern California’s Best – Ryan Wilson and Sean Talkington
Sunset Chasing Southern California’s Best
Photos by Ryan Wilson and Sean Talkington. Words by Sean Talkington.
Ryan and I recently planned a ride up Highway 39 to get some “work” done. We needed to shoot some of the Team Dream products in their natural habitat (shameless self promotion #1). We asked our friend Jackie to come along as a lady model. Jackie originally wanted 10K in cash (up front!) to model but settled for a turkey sandwich (also up front!) instead.
This ride is (in our opinion) the absolute hands down best climb in all of Southern California. The road used to be closed to cars a few years back and in those days you could do the bulk of the twisty climb without ever seeing another human. It was really post apocalyptic feeling back then. Now the 39 is open to motor vehicles until just after Crystal Lake, but even with the occasional “Fast And The Furious” car ripping by you every so often, this climb is still easily #1.

The South Coast on the Specialized Diverge
I couldn’t imagine riding with a camera bag of that size, but kudos to these guys from Cycle Atlas for hauling their own load. You rarely see that these days, especially with footage like this.
New South Wales’ South Coast is captured magnificently in this video and it really matches with how everyday people would use a bike like the Diverge.

Above Category: Red and White Mosaic RS-1
The newest bike of the week from Above Category has racing pedigree written all over it. Red and white will always look well balanced, especially with Campagnolo Record. See more of this Mosaic RS-1 at Above Category’s blog.

Baum Cycles: Burnt Orange Corretto
Orange bikes will forever have a special place in cyclists’ hearts. Maybe it’s the allure of Molteni? Or maybe they just look great, especially from Baum. See more of this beauty at the Baum Flickr.

From Cancer to Corsica
I was stoked to see Rapha do a video about the struggles found with fighting cancer and how riding can help.

Col Collective: Col du Glandon
The Col Collective returns with the Col du Glandon, a 19.7km climb with grades spiking to 11% and a total gain of 1,441m. At least the view’s not too bad!

Firefly Bicycles: Fuck Yeah Olive Drab Bar Tape
This build took a bit for me to warm up to it, but there’s something about it that would heat up even the coldest base miles. The bar tape, saddle, fork, headset and hubs are all a different tone of green and yet it works.

The Col Collective: Passo Gavia
This famous climb has seen many a great moments in cycling, including the ’88 Giro when photos of a frozen Andy Hampsten circulated the globe. The Col Collective takes on Passo Gavia for their latest video…

Festka: New Zero Dazzle Road
Festka‘s work has always has an edge, from their first NAHBS bikes to their artist collaborations, the Czech builders have an eye for design as well as the ability to finely tune carbon fiber as a material. Continuing on their previous Dazzle-inspired road bikes is their new Zero frame.
Complete with Di2 and Rocket Wheels, the paint job on this one is much more profound and incorporates Festka’s new logo and font. It captures your attention but allows the bike to communicate differently depending on the side that you are viewing it from. It was originally designed for Michael, one of Festka owners.
With 1.5″ headset bearings, oversized tubing and a pressfit 30 bb shell, the Zero comes in at 1,300 grams. Not intended to be an ultralight frame, it was designed from oversized tubes and lugs to extend the lifespan of the bike.

Argonaut for Above Category
This came out so nice! As I announced earlier, Above Category in Sausalito has picked up Argonaut Cycles, to give customers better access to the brand. The shop will assist in ordering one of these unique custom frames, by walking the consumer through the step by step process.
To celebrate this partnership, Argonaut and Above Category brought Brian Vernor out to make a short video showcasing the brands and their dedication to the custom market.

Ride on Raleigh
Ride (the Australian magazine) did a feature on the team Raleigh bikes and it’s well worth the read. These bikes still are on of my personal favorite liveries in vintage cycling… Thanks for the heads up Andy!

“How about a little comet?” Tony says while deep in his element. “Yea… right there. Perfect.” Watching Tony paint, I realize he isn’t talking to me, but rather coaxing the paint out of his airbrush. In a dimly lit pop-up tent pitched in his backyard, Tony’s workspace smells like a lack of ventilation in a chemical plant.

Firefly Bicycles: All Hallows’ Road
Black and orange is the new black, during the fall anyway. Tis the season for everyone to get their base miles on and what better motivation to bundle up in the cold than a new road bike. Much less, a new Firefly. I love the way large framesets look by themselves and this one’s got a massive head tube.

The Col Collective: Col d’Aubisque
I’ve never been able to ride any of these climbs, so I’ve been enjoying the Col Collective videos. Not for the data or coaching aspect, but for the scenery. It’s striking! Here’s the latest project, which happens to be the first climb filmed for the Col Collective, the Col d’Aubisque…
