When people hear of the Midwest, they typically think of farmland and prairie. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa have a rich history of glaciation that smoothed out a lot of the land we typically think of and gouged out lakes and terrain. Southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, known as The Driftless Region, is a unique area virtually untouched by glacial sculpting. As a result, this landscape greatly contrasts what one would typically think of the Midwest. Its narrow valleys, high bluffs, forested hillsides and beautifully sculpted topography is a real treat for cyclists in the region.
Route 66 is the Main Street of America and was one of the original highways in the US. The people you meet along the way have stories to tell. Hear their stories in the new Outskirts movie!
I love seeing what artists like Matt Blease cook up for this crazy time of year for professional road cycling.

If you’re looking for something different to do tomorrow evening, check out this event at Rapha’s new Cycle Club in Santa Monica. The event starts at 6, and the speaking portion will get rolling at 6:30. The theme of this evening is to “See things differently”, and there will be speakers from OMATA, photographer Brian Vernor, and frame designer Spencer Canon of Ritte Bicycles.
Continuing the Rapha Rides Japan series is Osaka, one of the most beautiful cities I’ve been to in the country.

While I love seeing familiar sights from the Rapha Rides US videos, these EU videos are all kinds of beautiful!
Last night, as part of the Rapha Rides series, a group of cyclists rode from the Rapha Santa Monica store to Golden Saddle Cyclery for a super chill “photography” ride up to the Helipad in Griffith Park to watch the sun set over this golden city. Half were in plain clothes and half were kitted out, but all enjoyed some beverages. Towards the end, Kyle requested for help in picking up the area’s trash, prompting everyone to pitch in. Because you can’t take photos when the area has trash all over it… Check out a few more below!
