I saw this in person and it was a lovely sight. HSuper! bottle, fresh flowers and good old American steel. More on that bike to come but I had to repost this from Tracko, especially with all the love he’s given me these past few weeks.
This is what riding a bike is all about and the Fairdale Weekender looks like a perfect mate for some Maui fun!

Espresso is a cyclist’s manna. I once heard someone say “so what does coffee have to do with cycling anyway?”. The E61 is one of the most famous espresso machines. Made by Faema, the team that sponsored Merckx in his early days, when he rode a De Rosa. So what does this have to do with a Mongoose grip on an E61 handle? Absolutely nothing. But it’s rad. It’s amazing how metal nature can be. These two photos are from a Recent Roll and I’m posting them only to motivate you to get outdoors if you aren’t already.
Carrying around the Hasselblad all day is not exactly fun but when I get a few rolls back, from various Shop Visits, it’s all worth while. These photos are from recent spaces and faces, some of which you’ll recognize, others you wont.

Much of the content on this blog concentrates on craftsmen, or companies who strive for excellence through local fabrication and material sourcing. It’s not an easy feat, especially with the economic fluctuations but a few brands have maintained a strong Domestic presence. Danner is one of those companies. While a few models are made overseas, Danner’s maintained construction in the USA on many of their models, including military-issued boots, their new Stumptown line and various other hiking boots.
When I made plans to visit Portland, there were a few non-cycling brands I wanted to visit. Mostly to see how a product that we all use is made. Touring the Danner facilities really breaks that process down, from hide to hiking boot. See so for yourself below!

If you can’t tell, I’ve been relaxing in Portland with the lady. We’ve spent a great deal of time outside the city (isn’t that why people move here?) and it’s been great. This Recent Roll is dedicated to those #NatureVibes…

Before it was hip to wear work boots to the local coffee shop or bar, Danner was making boots in Portland for loggers and contractors. Since 1932, their Made in the USA boot line is ever-expanding. The new Stumptown line mixes a bit of style in with their rugged aesthetic. I got to tour the Danner facilities the other day and it was absolutely insane to see footwear go from a hide to the final product.
I’m way behind on processing photos and developing film, so expect an update shortly.
… Beautiful. We’ve spent the past few days exploring within the city and out of the city, trekking out to Horsetail Falls and various other trails. We’ve seen many great shops and met some brilliant people. While I’m collecting photos, I figured I’d share a few off a roll of film I just got back from the Hasselblad.
Today a small group is heading out on a century through the country roads and into Hood River. I’ll be away from the computer all day, but will have my 35mm on me, so expect some great photos from our ride. Posts will resume on Wednesday, including some from Hufnagel Cycles!

James O’Brien, LOCOG Head of Sports Presentation, said: ‘Inspiring people to engage with sport has always been central to our vision and we want to ensure the way we present sport adds to the experience of the spectators in the venues and builds the atmosphere. This will be a special summer and we are grateful to everyone who has given their time and expertise over the past years.’”
I say they’ve created track racing for Tron. Pretty rad!
