Outlier + Process

Outlier‘s process is far from simple,  and yet not that complicated. It’s more or less straight forward and it’s been the same since the beginning, minus a few tweaks here and there. Abe and Tyler aimed to create clothing from high-tech fabrics in NYC. No one else is doing that and since the brand’s inception, they’ve cornered the market.

If you’ve ever wondered just how much work goes into an Outlier garment, Hypebeast has a great story up on their site. Head over and check it out. And if you’d like to pick up a pair of brick red Three Way Shorts, do so NOW at Park and Bond. I’m damn tempted!

Search and State: Grey S1-A Riding Jersey

After their black S1-A riding jersey was such a hit, the guys at Search and State branched out into another tone: grey. These high-tech, lightweight jerseys are well worth their price tag. Up until it got super hot here in Texas, I was wearing mine every day. This new lighter tone should allow for year-round riding, even in the hottest of climates. These are the only cycling jerseys made by skilled hands in NYC. Check out my product review of the S1-A jersey here.

Check out more photos below and scoop one up here at S&S for $125.

This Bike Share is a Pipe Bomb

The Gothamist has a story up about how neighbors feel that the new Citibike share program will encourage terrorists to target the UN and various other international hubs in the area. I usually don’t post this kind of ridiculousness but the thought that someone would turn this hunk of shit into a bomb and attack a Federal building just strikes me as real-life-comedy. Seriously, this is out of an SNL skit… Read up here.

Hit ‘Em in the Mouth – Bike Polo Documentary

“Hit ‘Em In The Mouth”, a documentary exploring the culture of Seattle Bike Polo, the birthplace of the current polo craze, will enjoy a World Premiere, June 30, 2pm in NYC at Anthology Film Archives. We need your help to get as many people in the NYC area to come see our film.

The movie centers around the dominant figures of the scene, including the father of hardcourt bike polo Matt Messenger, the world champions Team Smile, and the up-and-coming players of the city. Their stories intertwine as we follow the drama through the National Championships and a battle with the city of Seattle for a permanent space to play.

Search and State S1-A Riding Jersey

Reportage

Search and State S1-A Riding Jersey

The amount of minimally-branded, high performance, made in the USA cycling jerseys are on the rise. Companies know that people don’t always want to look like moving billboards when they ride and that black is a good, safe tone for a kit. Since I first talked to the guys at Search and State, I knew their S1-A riding jersey would be a smash hit.

Why? For starters, they’re hand made in NYC from a two-toned quick dry microbial fabric. This material has a nice feel to it, is sleek and is milled in the USA. All that aside, these jerseys are durable and quick drying, two essential qualities for a jersey you’ll want to wear just about every day. I’ve put it through the ringer over the past few months and it’s become a staple, alongside my other jerseys. Add in sun sleeves, a merino wool base layer and you’re good to go, even in warm conditions.
