Yet, one company’s consistently impressive designs continue to stand out in this somewhat crowded market: No. 22. John got his hands on the latest member of No. 22’s Drifter family, the Drifter Adventure, which became his “get into shape” bike this spring and summer. After logging miles on his favorite loop in Santa Fe, he’s ready to discuss what makes No. 22 and this new Drifter Adventure so special.

It’s that time of year again! The Chris King Open House returned to Portland this past weekend and, with it, a showcase of seventeen custom bikes. Let’s check them out in detail below!
No. 22 is looking for a finishing and fabrication specialist to join our small and growing team of framebuilders in our Johnstown, NY production facility. A great candidate will be passionate about craftsmanship at the highest level and will have previous bicycle manufacturing experience.
The role can be tailored to suit the right candidate, but at its core would involve masking, painting, anodizing, and other finishing-related tasks, as well as ancillary tasks such as packing, shipping, workstation cleaning, and inventory control. Opportunities in fabrication, machining, assembly, and other facets of the framebuilding process can be added to the role for the right candidate.
An ideal applicant will have demonstrated experience with crafting boutique or custom bicycles, outstanding attention to detail, and above all a pride in building bikes to the highest possible standards. The following skills will be helpful in the role:
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a collaborative team
-Strong attention to detail
-Previous experience with the manufacturing or finishing of bicycles and components, including masking, bead blasting, polishing, anodizing or painting
-Experience with titanium framebuilding a definite asset
-Comfortable safely working with hand tools and light manufacturing equipment
-Interest in developing own skills and knowledge
-Familiarity with graphic design programs and particularly Adobe Illustrator is an asset
-Bicycle knowledge and mechanical experience is helpful but not required

Fenders, fenders, fenders! They’re important and when people put them at the forefront of their product design, they can look damn good. Case in point is the No22 Drifter X, which comes optionally with these new titanium fenders. The Drifter X is an all-road with slightly shorter stays, a higher stack, and the same construction and detailing that No22 is known for.

No22 and Search and State are two powerhouse cycling brands, both based in New York. When it comes to precision, both of these brands can proudly wear that badge of honor so it would make sense they would team up on a Made in New York collection. Last year at NAHBS, No22 introduced their carbon and titanium road bike, dubbed the Reactor. This year, they brought it back to their display in the Salt Palace with a new finishing twist. The paint and anodizing, along with a special edition Campagnolo cockpit had their booth sizzling all day. Coincidentally, this bike won the Campagnolo award.
The hardest part of photographing this beaut was keeping the damn thing still. It kept wanting to roll. Not a bad problem I suppose!
With flat mount brakes, a carbon seat tube and titanium main tubes, the latest from No22 Bicycles is one of the slickest looking disc road bike on the market. Can No22‘s bike offerings get any more dialed? The short answer is probably not, especially after their big unveil at NAHBS this year because right now, they’re touting perfection. No matter how practical their other bikes might be, with super sleek lines on their road, cross, gravel and mountain frames, the Silver Wing track machine is straight up other-worldly…
A 2015 NAHBS favorite has finally landed online. The No 22 Bicycles Reactor road bike caught my attention this year at the show and still to this day makes me feel all adulterated with lust. Clean, minimal lines, custom hardware and a stance unmatched in the current production frame world. That’s my opinion anyway… Form your own opinion at No 22 and see more photos below.
No 22 Bicycles grew from a longstanding framebuilding tradition in Upstate New York. By keeping production of their frames Stateside, they’re able to tweak geometries easily and even develop new models. Their latest addition to the No 22 family is the Broken Arrow disc cyclocross bike.
Developed with the help of Wilis Johnson of Deluxe Cycles, the Broken Arrow was designed to be a racing frame, but as we all know, a cross bike’s versatility is quickly realized as the season comes to a close.
Wilis raced ‘Cross Nats on this bike, as well as shredded trails while he was in town. The subtle branding and black componentry really give this bike a beautiful silhouette and I can’t think of a more appropriate bike for that Cadence x Ritchey stem. Photographing titanium outdoors can be difficult, especially on an overcast day, but these photos came out great. Those who raced Crash Nationals will recognize the bamboo tunnel…
No 22 Bicycles have been field testing their new cyclocross bike, the Broken Arrow, all season and are finally ready to sell them – remember what I said about good things coming to those who wait. Remember, a cross bike – especially a disc bike – is incredibly versatile.
These bikes are made from 3Al-2.5V CWSR titanium in the good ol’ USA, by men and women who have been making titanium frames for decades. Each frame is warranted for 10 years and comes built, stacked with high-end components, yet barely tipping the scales at 17.3 lbs for a size 56cm. Remember, titanium isn’t a material you chose for excessive weight savings, it’s all about the ride quality.

No 22 Bicycles’ made in the USA frames are one by one, getting a bit of a make-over, beginning with the popular Little Wing track frame. While the geometry has stayed the same, the Little Wing has some new accoutrement, in the form of new cast-titanium pieces.

Wilis recently built up a No 22 Little Wing track bike to race at Red Hook Crit. These bikes look even better in person. I’d highly encourage you check one out!
