Bikes and Hangs From The 2022 Chris King Guest House Event at Caletti Cycles

We’re here en route to the 2022 Sea Otter Classic after what feels like eons, and on our way to the event, we have been hanging out in Santa Cruz, California, at Caletti Cycles and the Chris King Guest House. This unique showcase features several framebuilders’ creations, all donning the new Chris King Wheelsets in road, gravel, and MTB. There’s a great mix of bikes from steel full suspensions, road bikes, a few tasty 29ers and a few surprises, so let’s check out the offerings below and a hefty gallery of the bikes and the hangs from the event…

Mid South 2022: Silver Delight – The Moots Routt ESC Neo Retro Build

We already looked at Moots’ new adventure platform, the Routt ESC a while back, in a photo review and as a Beautiful Builds video, but having never seen the Neo-Retro build spec in person, I had to take the build Moots brought to Mid South outside of District Bicycles for some photos. This build kit looks amazing, with mostly silver parts, a bead-blasted ti Moots stem/seatpost, and yeah, that’s a barcon shifter. Let’s check it out below.

A Review of the All-New Moots Routt ESC Adventure Gravel Bike: Don’t Call it a Baxter

The Baxter was a blip in a long line of adventure bikes to grace Moots’ 40 years of building frames in the Rockies. Personally, I really liked the Baxter. It held its own in the Steamboat Ramble Ride and tackled our “Disconnected” project in the Inyo Mountains with SRAM but the Baxter had some quirks that needed to be addressed. With the Routt ESC, Moots did just that, abandoning the Baxter model altogether.

In an era where adventure, gravel, touring, and bikepacking bikes are seeing lots of permutation, there’s no time for nostalgia. Brands need to address their bike’s quirks and redesign as needed. That’s where the Routt ESC comes in. It’s like the Baxter and the Routt gravel line had a lovechild, which resulted in a completely new paradigm within the Moots catalog. Let’s check out this new Routt ESC bike in more detail below!

Moots Now Offers a Trans Am Anodizing Finish On All Of Its Bikes

Coinciding with today’s Chris King Open House, Moots just announced another custom anodizing package for its entire catalog. Trans Am is inspired by 1980s car graphics and this theme is carried across the frame, onto the stem, and seatpost. With a retro-themed, vibrant color palette anodized onto a matte surface to give it pop and vibrancy, the Trans Am is by far the flashiest anodizing finish Moots has offered to date… See more photos of the Trans Am finish at Moots and be sure to check out our Related Archives below for a deeper dive into the Steamboat Springs brand!

The 2021 ENVE Builder Round Up: Weiss, Breadwinner, Moots, Pine, Mosaic

I shoot as many bikes as I could at the ENVE Builder Round Up in a relatively small timeframe and while I wish I could have gotten to them all, there’s only so much one can do in ten hours. Still, I feel like these last five builders represent the kinds of bikes the readership here at the Radavist enjoys. There are some real gems in this last gallery. Without further adieu, here’s an in-depth look at Weiss, Breadwinner, Moots, a new brand called Pine, and Mosaic…

Moots Wins a Colorado Manufacturing Award

Our friends at Moots just announced they won a Colorado manufacturing award for the best consumer brand. For those interested in what’s going on with Moots, this might be right up your alley.

Our 40-year history of manufacturing played a part in receiving the award as a nod to our consistent pursuit to building the highest quality bikes we can. We don’t get too wrapped up in pursuing awards but it is an honor to be recognized by an association that is not bicycle industry based.

Road’s Not Dead: Moots Introduces the Vamoots RCS

With all the touring and gravel talk over here, you might think that road bikes might be dead. Well, that’s not the case. Or at least that’s not what Moots is saying with their latest release. With the Womble breaking the mold of what a hardtail “XC” bike can be, Moots set their sights on doing the same with their Vamoots RCS (RCS= Routt County Special) high-volume, disc road bike.

The Vamoots RCS features:
-RSL tubeset
-next generation 3D printed dropouts
-2x road drive train compatible
-NEW fastback seat stays
-NEW model-specific fork
-NEW camo anodizing finish: “Hunter”

Shared Territory: Borderlands

We would like to add an introductory note to this project. Covid 19 has impacted small towns and indigenous communities at disproportionate rates, so please don’t travel to do this ride – or any rides outside of your locales – until the pandemic subsides. This will give you plenty of time to plan for an epic and safe ride along the Camino del Diablo…

Fire up Google Earth, and look for a route across the Sonoran desert. Although it’s one of the most immigrated routes along the United States Mexico border, there isn’t anything there that would suggest it’s passable. It’s a massive empty, unknown expanse on the otherwise populated map. It is Shared Territory
