All-City: Fulton Racing Team Photos

What seems like ages ago, I was in Minneapolis for the All-City Championships. It was a very, very blurry time in my life, because all we ended up doing was partying and riding. One evening, Jeff asked if I could tag along with the Fulton Racing Team as they embarked on a “cross practice” ride. Basically, we rode some tight singletrack on cross bikes in the woods.

I can deal with that! While it was too dark to shoot in the woods, I managed to get some pretty decent team photos, which Jeff just posted. Head over to All-City to check them out.

Fulton Brewery Racing Team All City Nature Boy Cross

The Fulton Brewery Racing Team is a Minneapolis-based cross team that All-City sponsors and this year, Jeff decided to do something extra special for them. He took a batch of Nature Boy Zonas (before they all sold out) and painted them in the Fulton Brewery livery. That means they fly under the green, black and white colors (and get discounted beer). Win / win.

Then, Jeff did something very un-Jeff. He put a carbon fork on a bike that wasn’t engineered for one. Oh noes! Joking aside, Jeff and I always get into this debate. Personally, I think it looks rad! The Whisky Parts No7 forks are something to desire, especially when painted to match the rest of the bike.

I love what All-City is doing with the Fulton Brewery Racing Team and it makes me want to drink a Lonely Blonde right now. Check out more photos in the Gallery, including a shot of the new All-City Crossing Guard and rings.

One on One Minneapolis

Reportage

One on One Minneapolis

To visit Gene and the crew at One on One is to visit a mountain bike museum of sorts. Gene used to race for Bridgestone back in the 80’s. His many bikes line the walls and ceilings of this mecca for dirt heads in the midwest and beyond. But One on One is much more than a MTB specific shop, it’s a cultural hub in Minneapolis, an icon of urban cycling and for many, a local bike shop. Add in a coffee shop and cycling memorabilia to the mix and you’re bound to spend some time walking up and down the space over and over again.

I spent a lot of time at One on One talking to Gene and Cars are Coffins-founder Hurl. Those two guys are some of the most sincere pedal-philes I’ve met. If you live in Minneapolis and haven’t been by, you should! If you’re nice, maybe Gene will let you into the basement. Don’t worry, it’s not that creepy…

While I was there, I shot a few photos in the shop, check them out in the Gallery!

Minneapolis River Bottom Riding on the Surly Krampus

Reportage

Minneapolis River Bottom Riding on the Surly Krampus

Look, I love the ‘wood and I love dirt. I’d rather spend six hours in the woods than three on sealed road. Why? It’s more fun. Especially when you find yourself on a 29+ MTB like a Surly Krampus (don’t worry, there’s a review coming). On one of my last days in Minneapolis, Jeff, Kyle and I rode the “River Bottoms” with Baroo, Jeff’s dog.

We took it at a chill pace, messed around on obstacles and stopped for the photo opps… Then, Kyle sprained his ankle and Baroo got overheated (90 degrees in Minneapolis is HOT).

I have to admit, in the 25 miles we rode, I had so much fun riding in the ‘wood with my mates. See for yourself in the narrated Gallery!

Minneapolis Randomness 02

I really, really had a blast in Minneapolis. As a by-product of running this site, I always have a camera on me. Unfortunately for some people, that means I am usually catching them doing something idiotic. Fortunately for you, it’s quite funny to see some of that behavior unfold.

What you’ll fine within this narrated Gallery is only part of some of the stories to be told here on the site at a later date. Most of these photos involve the following: bros, babes, Baroo, beaches, bikes, beer and bourbon. Simple enough right? Check out more in the Gallery!

I had a BLAST! There’s much more coverage coming here on the site from my stay in Minneapolis, but I had to post this one up first. Honestly, I couldn’t think of a better photo to say adieu!

Until next time (when the snow melts)!

The 2013 All City Championship Track Crit

Reportage

The 2013 All City Championship Track Crit

Track bike crits have become all the rage at local city events. These high-speed, high-tension races are enjoyed by all and offer up a taste of what it’s like to not only race in a road criterium, but also track racing. For the 2013 All City Championship, Jeff put on a track crit, to replace his normal match sprints. 50 or so racers entered, over a hundred were there to spectate and it was a great time. I haven’t had that much fun at a bike event in a while!

Check out some narrated photos in the Gallery!

Pardon Me…

Sorry for the lack of updates this weeekend. We’ve been soaking in Minneapolis in various ways and that means I get very little time to update the site with all the shenanigans. Here’s a quick pre-ride shot from the other night’s ride with the Fulton Brewery All City racing team.

Kyle had a little atavistic urge to get rad… Regular posting will commence tomorrow!

I promise you, I’m working while I’m here in Minneapolis. One of the places I really wanted to check out was Angry Catfish. There’s a full Shop Visit coming but for now, I thought everyone would enjoy this photo… The weekend’s here and I hope you can make it out the All City Championships events. See you tonight at the track bike crit!

Yesterday was the first full day in Minneapolis. I’m here for the All-City Championships, along with Kyle from Tracko. We’re both crashing at Jeff from All-City’s house and that means we fall into his routine. His food, his rides, his spots and of course, his house. When you’re staying with someone like Jeff, expect a good time. Check out some narrated photos in the Gallery!

Well, I’m in Minneapolis, crashing at Jeff from Bike Jerks / All-City’s house for the All-City Championships and while the main event is Saturday, Bandit Cross is kicking it off on Thursday night. You should really come out if you can. I’m pretty stoked on this event!
