Next week, Mash and Rapha are throwing two events worth hitting up if you’re in SF. The first is the Cutty Cross Cat (flier below) and the second event is All Chips on the Table: The Bicycle Art & Design of Garrett Chow, which will be at the Rapha Cycle Club, post race. I wish I could be in attendance. This looks like a rad time.

Year after year, photographing Interbike goes from being an overwhelming and daunting task to me just knowing what people want to see. That and after I get over shooting in the horrible lighting, the yearly tradeshow’s bounty of Beautiful Bicycles just comes easy. This year, Cinelli packed a few punches, starting with the new single speed CX frame, designed by MASH. But the main surprise was the custom carbon Laser road. Wow.

Garrett did a great job on the 2013 MASH kits. I doubt they’ll be in stock for long, so head over and swoop!
Mash just posted their pre-order for the 2013 SSCX bikes. Get on it now. A lot of time went into designing these bikes and everyone’s super pumped on them.
To celebrate the summer cycling events approaching, MASH has some new gear. The Olympic Cycling shirt and new Purist bottles are gonna be a hit. Check out more at the MASH Shop.
For 2013, Cinelli has many new offerings but the one release I’m most impressed with is the collaboration with Mash on a new SSCX frameset. I know a lot of work went into this bike, so expect these frames to be a great option for race season next year. Or just some off-road fun.
While he’s no Lucas Brunelle, Crihs‘ race videos are always entertaining. I love the dark, grittiness of this 2011 Mash Vegas Drag Race footage.
Meeting viewers in person and seeing their bikes is one of my favorite things about traveling. This morning, DJ rolled into GSC on his Cinelli Mash Histogram and I tried to quickly sneak in photos before he noticed his bike was gone. It didn’t work because like a good owner, his eyes were on his bike the whole time. Who can blame him? Especially with the parts list…

Mike is over in Italy right now, visiting Cinelli and Columbus for a little PR&D. Not many people can say that their frames are designed in Italy, in conjunction with one of the most repsected names in cycling. I can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up. As Garrett and Walton were packing their car up to head back to SF from the Golden Saddle Cyclery Champagne Brunch, I grabbed his Specialized S-Works road bike and took a few photos of it. I don’t think you can get anymore balleur than this. Slammed, drop stem, murdered out paint and coming in around 13lbs, this bike is a beast!

Look, I’m not going to sit here and say that the 44RN is the best track chainring ever but I will say that they look damn nice. Someone should convince Aaron to make more of these 144bcd 47t rings. I love mine and Chas has been riding his since he won it at Stupor Bowl. It looks damn fine on his Cinelli Mash low pro.

Mash just posted up Ranier’s Red Hook Crit race report. It’s a great read and considering that he beasted it the whole race, bringing in a very respectible 2nd place. Check out the report here at the Mash SF Blog.
Since PiNP is a one-man show, it’s tough to make it out to every single event. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know a lot of inspiring and talented individuals through the bike scene. Many of which are photographers who’ve inspired me to continue pressing forward with the site. So when I relaunched PiNP with new galleries and photosets, I wanted to reach out to my peers and ask them to contribute content. While I’m not ready to start handing over guest accounts, one of the ways I’m implementing this material is through Recent Roll posts: looking through their lenses.

In SF, there’s a way to avoid all the major hills in various neighborhoods. It’s a winding route through the streets that bypasses steep climbs and rides the range. It’s called the Wiggle. Bay Nature wrote a piece on the history of the Wiggle, explaining its origins. Check it out here.

You can’t work on bikes in a messy shop. My goal in the next few weeks is to build a legit workshop. It just makes life easier, as the Tokyo Fixed Gear team has found out. They’ve got a new shop and that means, new pricing and specials. Head to their site to see how they could become your LBS if they aren’t already (in London).
Personal obligations sometimes get in the way of hanging out with friends but even if I only get to say hi for a few minutes, it’s worth it. During the Mash TT on Saturday, Kelli rode Marc’s LOW track bike and finished only 15 minutes behind the leading guy group. Unfortunately, she dropped her team in the process. Here she is, smiling ear to ear after a quick change out of the kit and into street clothes. Marc, when are you giving her your bike dude?
