High Above’s New Minimal Hip Pack the Nexus

Sometimes you don’t want to carry a whole pack when you go for a ride. Sometimes your favorite mountain bike barely has room for a single water bottle. Sometimes a product comes out that you never knew you needed until you see it. The Nexus is High Above’s most minimal pack, designed around a robust waist belt and a pouch with a Fidlock magnetic closure. There’s even one of those nifty Fidlock bottles incorporated in the design. See more on the Nexus at High Above.

High Above’s New Lookout Hip Pack

I’ve used a lot of hip packs over the past few years and it’s always hard grading them. A lot of it comes down to strap thickness, interior space, pockets and how well they carry weight since mine usually carry a small camera as well. High Above’s newest hip pack, the Lookout is the culmination of everything they’ve learned over the past six years of building bags. It’s loaded with details and features, including a water bottle holster for those mountain bikes with only one cage and is made in Washington. Check out more on the Lookout and the other packs currently available at High Above.

High Above Makes Handmade Hip Packs for Shredding

I’ll swear by a shredpack anyday. Why cover your entire back with a backpack when you can get away with a hip pack? Over the past few months, I’ve been obsessing over these functional packs, checking out what various makers are whipping up in their workshops. One such maker is High Above. Based in Bellingham, Washington, they make two sizes in their hip bags: Das Radpack (small) and the Cascadia (large). Both bags can be coupled with a Bottle Rocket holster for either a beer can or water bottle.

Check out the various color options at High Above and expect a shred pack showdown on the site in the coming weeks!
