Sarah Sturm Journal

One of our favorite personalities in the cycling industry has a space on one of our favorite brand’s blogs! Sarah Sturm has a great little read up about the pandemic and what riding means to her. Be sure to check this one out and if you missed it, our Highway 50 Nevada MTB trip features some excellent shots of Sarah ripping that Nevada dust as well!

“We have in front of us a chunk of time. We have a global pause. There are no races, there are no events, there are no parties or gatherings or high fives. We have busy minds and bored bodies and there isn’t an exact day that we can mark on our planners when “this will all be over”. Nope. The only thing that is certain is uncertainty. And we’re getting sick of seeing that phrase plastered all over the media. Yes, we know, things are uncertain right now and saying it over and over doesn’t seem to help.”

Mid South 2020: the Last Gravel Race on Earth

Mid South 2020: the Last Gravel Race on Earth

To begin, it is important to say that I am not a doctor, a data analyst, or an economist. Am I an expert regarding the growing pandemic that is becoming one of the defining events of our lives? No, I am not. I am a bike mechanic who likes to take photos. There are smarter people out there who could (or should) be writing about this, but as it is, you have me. And I find it extremely difficult—even inappropriate—to talk about this year’s Mid South without acknowledging the massive elephant in the room. For some of you, these images or just the thought of a large group gathering may be upsetting. You would be right to feel that way, and I get it. If this were any other year, it would have been a widely celebrated event, filled with love and excitement from the greater cycling community. In a lot of ways, it still was. But given that upside-down is the new normal, here we are.

Giro Cycling: Sector Off-Road Shoe

Giro’s latest shoe, the Sector, takes up where the Ventana left off, solidifying the design, function, and fit into something more refined.

This shoe is suited for MTB or gravel riding and features a 3D Molded footbed with medium arch support, stainless hardware, a carbon-composite, 2-bolt plate formed to a dual-injected outsole, and an upper made with a dual Boa L6 dial, with both steel and soft lace guides.

The entire shoe is molded from a one-piece Synchwire and thermo-bonded exo structure. In short, it’s like the Ventana, but more advanced. The Sector is available in black or olive drab and retails for $225. Yes, there is a women’s version too! The Sector W. See more at Giro.
