10th Anniversary Fat Chance MTB

Reportage

10th Anniversary Fat Chance MTB

I’m one lucky guy. Since Tracko has “sworn off” posting anything but track bikes, I get all the radness that rolls through the doors at Golden Saddle Cyclery. The first of which, being the crème de la crème of the Fat Chance MTB line, the 10 year anniversary Fat.

This is no ordinary Fat Chance. The 10th anniversary frames came with a titanium, etched plate (this one’s 113 out of 200), a BOI Yo Eddy Fork and complete True Temper OX tubing. Most of which came outfitted with a full Campagnolo Record OR gruppo and were highly sought after at the $1450 MSRP (frameset). The weight? Around 23 pounds. Not too shabby and that paint job…

Those who want to read up more on the 10th Anniversary frame can check out this article from the MTB forums.

Kyle did this one justice with tons of detailed photos and he even tracked down some Campagnolo OR brake levers to replace the Avid models currently on the bike. See for yourself in the Gallery!

The Ty Divide

The Ty Divide

One of my good friends and someone that’s come to represent fun times, Ty from Golden Saddle Cyclery, is getting ready to embark on the Tour Divide. For those who aren’t aware, the Tour Divide is a solo bike race from Canada to Mexico along the great dividing range. The word “adventure” gets thrown around a lot these days, but I can assure you, this is a fucking adventure. If you haven’t watched the documentary, Ride the Divide, I suggest you do so!

This is a life-changing ride, something that Ty has been preparing to undertake for over a year and I am stoked for him! Follow him on Instagram, wish him luck and be sure to ask him lots of questions. He loves questions.

Jamming Out in Los Angeles

Reportage

Jamming Out in Los Angeles

Well, not that kinda jamming.

I’ve been very fortunate every time I’ve been to LA, only because I have the best friends there. Friends who are the best ride guides and of course, own the best bike shop in LA (I mean the best bar in Silverlake). Tracko took me on one of the best cross rides I’ve been on in Los Angeles the last time I was in town. Parts of it were very LA, while other sections felt like Austin and some even reminded me (mostly smelled like) Australia. We got to fuck around a bit on tech sections, avoid dog walkers, took a few spills and hammered it home just in time for lunch. Los Angeles really does have some of the best bike riding in the country…

We totalled 48 miles and around 3,600′ of elevation but who gives a shit about the numbers with trails like this. See for yourself below!

#DoTheDump for Woody and Team Dream Team

I know I already posted about Woody’s Team Dream Team shirts last Friday but this weekend, Jesse Carmody got creative with the TDT water bottle photo shoot and I had to share these photos!

“The red, white and blue bobcat t-shirt & purist bottle are here to commemorate Woody’s National Masters Championship, his commitment to the US Olympic Cycling program, and to support him for being an all around good guy.

100% of the proceeds from both the red, white & blue bottle and t-shirt will go to assisting him with his medical bills. Look cool and be rad at the same time!”

That’s totally rad Sean. Scoop up the bottle here and if you missed Woody’s All-City Thunderdome track, click here.

Woody’s All-City Thunderdome Track

Reportage

Woody’s All-City Thunderdome Track

Talk to anyone on the US Olympic track team and they’ll tell you that Woody’s one solid wrench. Not only that, but he holds down the repairs at Golden Saddle Cyclery and coaches in his part time. Bottom line, Woody’s one solid fella who knows his way around the velodrome.

After recovering from a MTB wreck, where he broke his femur and clavicle, Jeff from All-City set him up with an Thunderdome track frame to aid in his physical therapy. With a machine like this, no one would need any more encouragement to hit the boards. This was one of the first track bikes I’ve shot where the tires weren’t allowed to touch the ground, save for the photos…

I Want the Gold

I Want the Gold

Well, I didn’t really want the gold but these in-store exclusive Golden Saddle Cyclery bottles look great on my Geekhouse. They look even better a bit dirty and dusty. Pick one up now in shop because they’re already getting low on stock.

I’m in Los Angeles today, en route for Santa Barbara and the ATOC tomorrow but before leaving town, I had to do a cross ride with Kyle. Some ups, just as many downs and a few spills made for a great ride. While my film sits in its canister, awaiting being developed, check out these two photos from Kyle’s Instagram. I forget how beautiful Los Angeles is, especially this time of year in the mountains. Nature is so metal.

Praise the Necronomicog.

Tracko Splinter Camo Riding Vest

Tracko Splinter Camo Riding Vest

Photos by Jesse Carmody

Kyle’s been so pumped on this project and I can see why. He teamed up with Endo Customs to design a riding vest. But let’s face it, there are already enough black riding vests, so he went with a WWII M90 Swedish splinter camo design. This weekend, he hired a male model to ride around in the woods and well, model the vest. Check out more information at Tracko! Save me one!

Golden Saddle Cyclery: More Caps in Stock

Every time Tracko posts these up, I buy one. I can’t help myself!

This is our second hat in a two part series based on old Blackburn saddle bags.  This time we’re all alone, so we got a little crazy and when we say crazy, we mean Hi-Viz! The cap was once again designed by Team Dream Designs.  Still constructed by Pace Sportwear using their three panel design with the slim “FLIPPED” visor, and KoolFit® Elastic Sweatband.
