Resist: Contact Hub Now Available

These bad boys have been coveted by fixed freestyle riders for months and they’re now available from Resist:

“Our long (very long) awaited Contact micro cassette hub just arrived and we’re already shipping them out to shops.  The thing is straight badass for anyone that wants to go to a micro drive fixed driver.  You can check out the specs on the Contact page.  Get at em’ quick, our orders are already looking slim.  Thanks for the patience on these guys.”

Thanks for pulling through on this one Resist. Everyone’s gonna be stoked.

JBall: Welcome to The Workshop

I’ve always liked JBall’s riding and here’s a great example why. This one’s good. Packed with some creative street riding. Obviously, I love the bigspin and the wall to bar. Nice.

Midwest Mayhem 3 Group Shot

Midwest Mayhem 3 organizers Antonyo, Sam and Kris shot over Shakes’ photo of the attendees and a little thank you to the sponsors:

“The turnout was small but the energy was big and very positive! Midwest Mayhem 3 could not have happened if it wasn’t for the support of 4 Seasons Skatepark, Hotel Foster, iMiNUSD, Unknown Bike Co, TTV blog, Thomas Bike Shop, Chop Em Down Films, The Grime, #fixiefamous and all of the other sponsors that took part in the event this year. A very special thanks to Gus Molina for the work on the fliers and the downright amazing illustration on the TTV Midwest Mayhem shirts.

1st. Josh Boothby (SE Bikes)
2nd. Antonyo Wothe (Unknown Bike Co)
3rd. Matt Spencer (SKYLMT) / Mike Dinh
Expect big things next year.
Thanks,
Antonyo Wothe, Kris Sundet, and Sam Erickson”
#GSC Shop Rat Street Session

#GSC Shop Rat Street Session

Like many shops, Golden Saddle Cyclery has rats. Not disease-spreading vermin, shop rats. You know, young, McDonald’s-eating, enthusiastic, kids who ride. These kids swarm en masse, consume lockrings and inner tubes, then head into the streets to get at least 12″ of air at jib spots.

Yesterday, I rolled around with Ty, Collin and Christian for a few hours. We hit some spots and the shop rats got rad. Ty’s at the ripe (old) age of 29 but that’s not stopping him from throwing down as well.

Dave Beard: Elliot Milner Feeble to Nose

One thing I’ve always admired about Dave Beard’s photography is his use of lighting. This photo is perfect. The whites and blacks are balanced, just like Elliot is here, popping a nose mannie out of a feeble. Even the BMX in the foreground just adds to the photo. You can really tell this was a riding session, first and foremost, leaving the photo as just an unexpected afterthought. Great work guys. See the sequence to this at Dave Beard’s site.

Back Before Hold Fast

I think this is my favorite photo that anyone ever shot at the Peel Sessions. Eisuke, or Sexy Sushi as he’s known, shot Jeremiah from Hold Fast tire-tapping this column, before there was a Hold Fast strap. It’s been years (2008) since people rode 700c with 28c tires and well over two years since Peel Sessions. I really miss those days but I’m glad Eisuke re-upped this photo. Nostalgia dies hard.

Matt Reyes for Specialized

Matt Reyes for Specialized

I met Matt and the rest of the Wheel Talk guys at Interbike two years ago, right before they announced they had been working with Specialized on their P-Fix 26″ fixed freestyle completes. In those two years, fixed freestyle has grown and grown and grown. Hats off to Matt for hustling hard and matching his riding with his positive attitude.
