Feskta’s New Scout is Beefier and More Tuned for Off-Road Use
Festka, the Czech manufacturer of high-end carbon frames, just announced their newly-designed Scout gravel frameset. The Scout was the brand’s first dedicated 1x gravel bike and this year, it got an overhaul, making it longer, slacker, with bigger tubes, and bigger tire clearance. The new model’s geometry is designed around an extended wheelbase whose scope can be tweaked further using the adjustable trail provided by the Columbus Futura Cross fork.
The new Scout frameset weighs in at 1000 grams, fits a 700×42 or 650x50mm tire and is offered in production or custom geometry, with a number of paint options. See the full spread at Festka.

Festka’s Latest Creation: the Spectre Porcelain
The Czech-based framebuilder company Festka is always pushing the envelope of frame design and their latest build does just that. The Spectre Porcelain was created for a bike collector from Bangkok who is a lover of vintage porcelain. With the help of Czech artist Michal Bačák, Festka has created a finish, unlike anything they’ve made before. Michal hand-painted this frame to emulate a vintage porcelain heirloom piece, yet unlike fragile porcelain, this bike can be used quite rigorously…

Festka: Michael’s ONE LT Dazzle Road
Photos by Jan Krofta
The Festka ONE epitomizes performance and technology. With all this “savoir-faire”, Festka has two top of the line carbon frames: ONE RS (Racing Sport) and ONE LT (Light). For Michael Moureček, the founder of Festka, when it came to making himself a bike he chose to go with the lighter option. Michael’s ONE LT Dazzle weighs 5.71kg as a complete bike and 820g as a painted frame.
Michael chose to paint his bike with the acclaimed design of Festka, inspired by warships and perfected over time: Razzle Dazzle camouflage. This is the third generation of Festka’s dazzle and quite possibly their most balleur bike yet. Check out more photos and the full build kit break-down below.

Festka: New Zero Dazzle Road
Festka‘s work has always has an edge, from their first NAHBS bikes to their artist collaborations, the Czech builders have an eye for design as well as the ability to finely tune carbon fiber as a material. Continuing on their previous Dazzle-inspired road bikes is their new Zero frame.
Complete with Di2 and Rocket Wheels, the paint job on this one is much more profound and incorporates Festka’s new logo and font. It captures your attention but allows the bike to communicate differently depending on the side that you are viewing it from. It was originally designed for Michael, one of Festka owners.
With 1.5″ headset bearings, oversized tubing and a pressfit 30 bb shell, the Zero comes in at 1,300 grams. Not intended to be an ultralight frame, it was designed from oversized tubes and lugs to extend the lifespan of the bike.

The Festka Hunter 29r with Gates Carbon Belt Drive
I love what Festka is doing. They have been cranking out some gorgeous bikes with incredible finishes over the past few months, the latest being the Festka Hunter 29’r hardtail. Gates carbon belt drive, a Rohloff hub and Columbus tubing. Not bad! Make sure you follow @Festka on Instagram for daily photos and see more of this Festka Hunter below!

2014 NAHBS: Festka Union Jack Di2 Disc Road
One of my favorite builders this year at NAHBS were the Czech builders Festka. Their work with oversized Ti and stainless tubing is impeccable. While most of their paint jobs are pretty over the top, this Union Jack Di2 disc road was actually pretty subdued.
Built for Richard Hardy, this particular frame was constructed from Columbus XCR tubing and sported a British racing green coat of wet paint, overlaid with a pattern inspired by the Union Jack flag of the UK.
When people asked me what the overall theme of NAHBS was this year, my reply has been: Di2 and disc brakes. Staying true to that observation, Richard’s bike is equipped and ready to rip. The addition of Rocket Wheels and Tune hubs gave this bike some European flavor amongst the sea of Chris King and Enve.

Bespoked Bristol: Festka Interview
Bespoked Bristol has a great interview up with Czech framebuilders Festka. This brand has been on my mind a lot lately. Their entire package is kicking serious ass. Everything is dialed: from razzle-inspired paint, to their studio photography and how sick is that Lizard rigid MTB?
See what makes Festka tick at Bespoked Bristol and remember, Cycleast in Austin is the US-importer for the brand.

Festka’s Razzle Fleet of Czech Republic Bicycles
At last year’s NAHBS, I showed a glimpse of the Czech Republic-built Festka steel road bike. While it’s easy to get excited about the razzle-inspired paint job, I’m more interested in the Festka story. Both the steel and the carbon frames are made in, painted in and designed the Czech Republic. To me, that’s inspiring.
I’ll catch up with Festka at this year’s NAHBS in Charlotte for more. Until then, head over to their site.
