FYXO is back with another e-bike conversion: meet the Surly Big Fat Dummy e-cargo bike, aka the Lane Cruiser Turbo. Andy White had to look high and low for this frame before finding one on the other side of the globe. From there, he got to work making this truly unique—and endlessly functional—Surly Big Fat Dummy build. Check out how the Lane Cruiser Turbo came out!

FYXO Builds: A Surly E-Ogre Year-Round Commuter
Curating custom bikes for people is something I’ve done, dare I say, “since forever.” For nearly 20 years the most common way a custom project lands on my plate is someone desiring a build akin to my current ride. In the early years, it was track bikes, singespeeds, and classic road bikes. More recently, popular interest seems to have shifted to e-bike conversions capable of carrying small humans, bulky gear, or a combination of both.

Alchemy Makes the First American Made Carbon eBike
Picking up where there popular Ronin gravel bike launched, the e-Ronin is an all-new Alchemy gravel bike featuring Fazua’s Evation drive system. Like its acoustic cousin, the Ronin, the e-Ronin is made by hand in Denver, Colorado. This makes the e-Ronin the first American-made carbon gravel electric bike. Making it in Denver allows Alchemy to make the e-Ronin with a custom geometry, allowing you to choose the stock paint scheme with different colors for no added cost. Head to Alchemy to check out more details!

Kona Showcases the Users of the Remote 160 e-MTB Users
Look, e-bikes are polarizing but over the past few months, the users I’ve met on the trail are always the ones with a physical ailment like a vet who lost feeling in his leg from shrapnel while overseas, or the woman in her 50’s who just can’t do the climb as well anymore due to a hip surgery. I think the more we realize e-bikes open the door for more users, the better off we’ll all be. Sure, there will always be people who abuse power, but I just hope the positives can outweigh the negatives. Man, that’s a lot of battery puns in one post!

Lighter, Faster, and… a Bigger Battery
It looks like e-bikes are here to stay, whether the hordes of angry cyclists like it or not. Specialized launches into their new Turbo Levo marketing campaign with quite the video. I’m really enjoying this series! Where’s the Nohlin cameo next?

The Coastal Crew on the Turbo Kenevo
Leave it to Specialized and the Coastal Crew to make a pair of e-bikes look fun. Perhaps because it doesn’t really show them “climbing?” This is for sure to open a can of worms, beat a dead horse, wash mud pies, fish in an empty barrel, checking a rooster for eggs, sweeping a dirt floor, or any number of other idioms. Regardless, that is one fun looking trail.
