With the holidays approaching we like to spend some time looking back at 2021 and give some of our favorite products a shout-out. In this post, we look at John’s personal favorite products of the year. Some are cycling-related, others are just solid staples John’s enjoyed using this year, so let’s get to it!

45NRTH’s Ragnarök Tall Winter Boot
Nobody likes cold, wet feet, and if you enjoy riding all winter through inclement weather, you know how it can be a struggle. Luckily, brands like 45NRTH make riding boots like the Ragnarök Tall Winter Boot. The Ragnarök Tall has a redesigned neoprene cuff, making taking them off and putting them on even easier. Designed for 25ºF+ riding, with BOA lace closure, the Ragnarök Tall might just be the cornerstone in winter riding. See more at 45NRTH.

45NRTH’s Red Wing Leather Wölvhammers
Every so often, a cycling product comes out that kinda blows my mind. Granted, I have no use for these boots, but for those in cold weather conditions looking for some balleur footwear, look no further than these 45NRTH Red Wing Leather Wölvhammers. Made from the same leather as your favorite work boots, insulated with Aerogel and enough details to shake a stick at. See more information at 45NRTH.

Pedal ED’s New Mido Riding Boots
You don’t need SPD-compatible shoes to ride your bike. Especially on a tour. While at the Berliner Fahrradschau this weekend, I got to see the new PedalED Mido riding boots in person, complete with a full grain olive leather construction and a Vibram sole. These boots are water resistant, breathable and are made by hand in Italy. I’ve tried on a pair before and they were exceptional. If you’re interested, see more information at PedalED!

Pedal ED: Mido Riding Boots
Out of all of the Pedal ED products, the Mido Riding Boots are my favorite and what’s not to love about them? Made in Italy, by hand, these boots offer a weather-resistant exterior with a Vibram sole, perfect for gripping pedals and even icy sidewalks. While they don’t have any clipless capabilities, they make for great winter commuter boots.
And, they look damn sharp!

Danner Boots Fall 2013 with Jordan and James
If you’ve been paying attention to West America, you would have seen that Jordan Hufnagel has sold all of his frame building tools and is heading to Patagonia with James Crowe, his shop mate. Before they leave, however, they’re finishing up some projects with US manufacturers. One of those companies is Danner Boots. Here’s a video lookbook the guys helped put together.
All I have to say is: rope swing.
