Bicycle Crumbs entered the cycling industry as an industry outsider, an observer, a consumer. An everyday cyclist. Now he works at Speedvagen, designing their products and helping run the show there, yet he continues to possess an interesting perspective on the ins and outs of cycling culture. He recently collaborated with Portland’s North Street bags on a non-fluoro Hi-Vis bicycle portage collection, using rainbow sequins and the Bicycle Crumbs signature Radar Print. This collection is a pre-order, running from now until September 26th. You can even us a code for 10% off during this presale, simply check out with code crumbs-crew2019. Drawn Away
After last year’s Solstice snow fest, the Coal Headwear and Swift Industries crew decided it was time for a redux, prompting them to take to the Bay Area’s rolling hills and coastal vistas:
“When illustrator Chris McNally invited us on a bicycle adventure through his expansive Northern California backyard, we knew we were in for a wild ride. Starting and ending at his Mission District studio, Chris would lead us on an epic 4-day tour of the SF and Marin County landmarks and landscapes that have inspired his work, and also inspired two great Seattle adventure brands—Coal Headwear and Swift Industries—to create “The Headlands Collection”.
“Drawn Away” is a story about creating close-to-home adventures with the freedom that bikes offer; about uncovering the hidden treasures and secret spots at the interface of the built and natural environments, where urban bleeds into rural, and rural into wilderness; about slowing the pace and making space for inspiration and creativity; and about the importance of building community one pedal stroke—and one brush stroke—at a time!”

Hoot Ventures’ New Website is up!
Brian and Alicia were two of the first people I connected with when I was visiting Minneapolis a few years ago. I was lucky enough to visit their house last summer for the piece on Delcie’s bike and Brian joined us for DFL shenanigans and even had some photos featured. It’s been awesome watching them grow as creators. Recently Brian decided to go full time with Hoot Ventures and redesigned their website and store. Initially, they are offering their munchie bag in three colors, but expect more wonderful things from them in the future.

Andrew the Maker: Granny’s Pantry Handlebar Bag
Handlebar bags these days are rather ubiquitous, yet from time to time something new comes on the market that piques my interest. Andrew the Maker’s new Granny’s Pantry bar bag is a semi-rigid bag, utilizing an aluminum brace that is clamped to the bars – 31.8mm only – to keep it stable on rowdy descents. The Granny’s Pantry has a drop in camera insert, a rando-style bag closure system and has a plastic liner to stiffen the body. The use of ABS plastics in bikepacking, touring, and other bags has been a huge benefit for me over the years, as I tend to crush bags accidentally, ruining their profile. The Granny’s Pantry has a lot of clever details and is available for a limited pre-order for $125 now at Andrew the Maker.
