LA Randomness 01

Saturday was the first day that I got to ride around with my camera in hand and do “tourist stuffs”. Tony came down from Santa Barbara and we spent the afternoon at the LACMA. After geeking out on art, we headed back to GSC, where we downed some beer and bourbon… Randomness ensued.

Chrome: Custom Military Salvage Program

Last year US Army Vehicle Commander Jared Morford of Watertown, South Dakota reached out to Chrome to make a Custom Salvage bag with the duffle he carried to Iraq. Chrome’s Custom Salvage Citizen was born.

In honor of Memorial Day, Chrome is launching a Custom Military Salvage Program for U.S. Military veterans & their families. If they bring in their military duffles or fatigues to one of Chrome’s four HUBs (SF, NY, CHI, or PDX), we’ll use the material to create a custom Citizen Messenger bag.

Mission Workshop: Introducing the Arkiv Modular System for Bags & Packs

The guys at Mission Workshop have been developing this particular Arkiv system for well over a year. Over the past few months, I’ve gotten to check out these bags, while in town visiting with Bart and the team, so I can say with confidence, that these made in the USA bags are legit.

“The Arkiv Modular System allows for easy customization of space and organization with the secure and simple attachment of independently weatherproof accessories utilizing unbreakable steel hardware. Accessories range from simple cell phone pouches and tool pockets to larger organizers and laptop sleeves. The Arkiv accessories allow for infinitely customizable carry solutions.”

Amazing. Check out more at Mission Workshop.

Carradice Barley Saddle Bag

Reportage

Carradice Barley Saddle Bag

Andy from FYXO and I were joking about product reviews when we finished up our walkabout. He said something to the extent of “if that bag survived our ride, then it’s worth a review”. There’s nothing pretty about a saddle bag on a road or cross bike but sometimes you need some extra cargo room. Since I was carrying my camera gear and food in my backpack, I wanted to be able to throw my clothes and other gear on the bike somewhere.

Blakey had this Carradice Barley Saddle Bag and Bagman Sport Support quick-release rack in Melbourne, so I borrowed it. Initially skeptical, Andy and Dan looked at the bag and implied that I’d know how secure it was after the first day… But alas, all weathered fine.

Burro Gets Thorough with Japanther

I’ve been waiting to post this for a little while but had to get higher-res photos from the Burro crew for the nice, cushy blog body formatting. Japanther has a huge following, much like Burro and I don’t imagine these sticking around for long. Pick one up here! I can’t wait to see who Burro is going to collab with next. Let’s just say, I’m sure a Chicago band by the name of BONGRIPPER could use some bags and I would buy one of those!  Seriously, someone set that one up.
