SR Suntour’s Collaboration with Artist Natalia Pulido Supports Diversity in Cycling
We all want the opportunity to be heard. Unfortunately, not everyone receives that opportunity. SR Suntour’s primary goal is to get more people on bikes regardless of their race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, ability, language, body type, or nationality. One of the ways we hope to do this is by creating affordable products of high value and performance to reduce the cost of entry and to work on making cycling a safe and welcoming place for all those that choose to enjoy their time on two wheels. Simple as that.

Dean Liebau Illustrates Cyclists and Captures Their Personalities
Drawing cycling portraits admittedly started as a self-serving venture. Looking for a breather from the largely geometric aesthetic I gave my illustration work, I dug down deep to my formal college Drawing 2 class and after a seven-year hiatus, I gave realistic portraiture another shot. After some hesitation, I decided to publish them but still didn’t have the courage to tag the people referenced. The internet can be a small place and they were quickly tagged for me but this served as the little form of validation I needed. I figured if people could be recognized, then they couldn’t be that bad right?

Evan Weselmann’s ‘Desert Trip’ for the Radavist
We’ve always got something fun cookin’ up over here at the Radavist and recently, Minneapolis-based artist Evan Weselmann reached out asking if we need any illustration work. Once seeing his portfolio, I knew exactly what we could task Evan with. I sent him our Death Valley bike tour photo gallery from 2019 and requested that he take inspiration from that. He delivered an insane graphics package and this illustration is but one tile in his multi-page package. With cooler temps on the way, I thought it’d make sense to ask y’all what you’d like to see from us this fall/winter season. Long sleeve t-shirts? More Nalgenes? You know what products we stock, so let us know what you want and we’ll do our best to deliver. You can ignore the background image, I just wanted to ground the drawing a bit.
We’re all looking forward to the ‘Desert Trip’ capsule collection! Drop us a note in the comments.

Win This Custom-Painted Squid SO-EZ Tracklocross Frameset
He painted. He drew. Then he painted again. The end result is this one-of-a-kind SO-EZ tracklocross frameset painted by LA artist @cachicken at @itsnotabikeshop.
But what to do with it? Socially minded, intimately connected to the streets of LA through his craft, Cache suggested we find a way to use this frame to raise money for the local LA food bank where he volunteers.
So here’s how to win this frame:
-Donate what you can to the LA Food Bank ($25 = 100 meals, so even $5 helps)
-DM Squid Bikes on Instagram a screenshot of your receipt.
-We understand that times are tight, if you aren’t able to donate, please just DM us a selfie of your smiling face.
On May 1 we’ll collect all the screenshots/selfies and someone* will have a beautiful new one-of-a-kind Cache painted SO-EZ!
*frameset size 54 (it will look great hanging on a wall if it’s not your size) one entry per person, shipping within the lower 48 States – see Squid for details.

Christopher Russell’s Art Rambler is a Mobile Paint Studio
Photos by Krishna Muirhead and Words by Chris Russell
We were on a ride when I told Alex the idea.
Thinking about an art piece while pedaling was nothing new, many of my paintings can be linked back to a long ride or a short bike tour. Spending most of the day in the saddle gives me the opportunity to clear my head, observe the landscape, brainstorm, and talk with friends; it’s the perfect social activity for the semi-recluse artist. I can be silent for hours, and when there is something to say we talk.
“Alex, I want to make my bike into a mobile painting studio so I can bike out and paint the landscape. A custom rack that could turn into an easel would be awesome, and I’m hoping you can fabricate it.” This bike setup would eventually be the narrative foundation of my next art show.

Geoff McFetridge is the Best!
… and I’m stoked to be getting a bike designed by him this year. I first was introduced to Geoff’s work when I used to skateboard religiously, as I’m sure many of you did at one point. Who else had those McFetridge Vandals?
In the 90’s, when skateboarding and larger names like Nike began to look to artists to revitalize their brands, Geoff’s work inspired me. Even in my 30’s I still love seeing what he’s been up to.
Looking good dude and I love seeing race numbers hanging in studios like this.

The Sleepers: High Water by Devon Tsuno
The homies in Los Angeles are always up to some good:
“The Department of Art and Design at Azusa Pacific University presents High Water,a solo exhibition and large scale screen-printing workshop by Devon Tsuno. In his first body of work using risograph and screen-printing processes, High Water is an educational exhibition, inaugurating the first in a series of new Windgate Workshops hosted by the Department of Art and Design.
For over a decade, Tsuno has wandered the San Gabriel River drainage system, a stone’s throw from the APU campus, documenting the disjunctive economic and topographic relationship between streams and rock quarries. The product of this disjunctive relationship has created an area of “hard-rock” quarry mining water flowing through a “managed” natural landscape.
Tsuno will collaborate and create works with students, using a large-scale format 60 x 84 inch screen print, on handmade Japanese Kochi Mashi Washi paper. This will provide students the opportunity to learn through real world work experience. The new workshop is made possible with generous support from the Windgate Foundation and presents students with the unique opportunity to work side-by-side with professional artists like Tsuno, by collaborating, discussing and creating tangible works.”
We all ride bikes but it’s what we do to occupy ourselves in the meantime that defines us. Love this video!
