Interbike 2012: Pegoretti

Reportage

Interbike 2012: Pegoretti

One of my favorite booths at Interbike this year was Dario Pegoretti‘s. Every time I walked past it, people were swarming to see the hand made steel masterpieces from Italy, rendering it almost impossible to get a clear photo of any of the frames. Since he had the only booth with hand-made track bikes in it, I had to get up close and personal with them.

While describing what makes Pegoretti Cicli’s work different from American builders, I overheard the rep say something to the effect of this: “Dario is from a long line of Italian frame builders. People who found a way to mix production with perfection. None of these American builders are capable of producing the quality and quantity as Dario…”

Arrogant? Sure. But hey, they’re Italian and with these bikes, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

Rouleur: Tommasini

Sometimes the day begins with a bunch of framebuilding posts and that’s the case this morning. I couldn’t pass up this article on Rouleur’s blog:

“When I started, the biggest problem was that in Grosetto there were no people who could work to give me a hand – I needed more people to increase production. I had to do it all myself, work the day and the night, weld and do everything. But I succeeded. At that time there were so many of us. The framebuilders back then were all really good, but with my bikes… Moser raced, and Freddy Maertens, and Cipollini. Marked or unmarked, those bikes were Tommasini, and that’s a really beautiful satisfaction. And I am still here today.” Irio Tommasini

Dosnoventa Tokyo Carbon Fiber Track

Reportage

Dosnoventa Tokyo Carbon Fiber Track

We saw a few shots of the Dosnoventa track bikes in action during my Brooklyn Randomness post but I’ve been holding off on posting these photos up. Dosnoventa is a Barcelona-based company who have taken on making a track frame from the three materials of choice: carbon, steel and aluminum. The name translates to 290, or the bottom bracket height (29cm) for every bike in their line. The Tokyo is their carbon fiber model and this build was over-the-top to say the least. Rotor cranks, HED wheels and one bitchin’ paint job make this bike scream.
