Bozeman, Montana is a magical place to mountain bike in the summertime. Last year’s trip was epic, so this year we wanted to re-visit this quaint little mountain town. While we were there last month, I was able to shoot Adam Sklar’s latest project, the Sweet Spot 29er MTB. While Adam usually takes on custom bikes, the Sweet Spot will be the brand’s first production model. The Sweet Spot is made in Bozeman, Montana, just like all Sklar Bikes. The aim here is to lower wait times, while not sacrificing quality. It also enables Adam to sell a model that is in-line with his philosophy on mountain bikes.
Projects like this are always a lot of fun. If I could do shoots like this every week, I’d be stoked! They’re a lot of organization and a lot of work but when they come together as well as this one did, it’s all worth it. Let’s dive into the press-release information, direct from Sklar Bikes below.
The Sweet Spot – it can be a lot of things. for example, the amazing places that this bike will take you to. Or the well-balanced design that makes for efficient climbing and confident descending on rides short and long. It is not a 6” trail bike that flies downhills but drags going up, nor is it an XC race rig that climbs like a breeze but lacks stability in descent. The Sklar Sweet Spot came to be through designing, building and riding hundreds of different mountain bikes over the past decade. In that time Sklar has refined geometry and materials to create a mountain bike that truly does it all. It’s called the Sweet Spot.
Made in the USA from the finest 4130 tubing available, each sweet spot is built to order with a 3 month approximate lead time, less than a fourth of Sklar’s normal custom frame lead time. Three build options are available. Frame only ($2850), an “Alloy Build” featuring SRAM GX and a RockShox Pike ($7,430), of the all-out “Carbon build” that comes kitted with XX1 and parts from Enve Composites ($11,110)
