My favorite day in Boston was our ride out to see Mike Flanigan at A.N.T. Bikes. Mike’s approach to bicycle making is best summed up by this quote: not sport, transport.
Step inside A.N.T. Bikes with me!
All framebuilders have their machines.
The tools they use to fabricate bicycles.
Whether be a Bridgeport.
Or even fire.
Some even conjure spirits. Well, not really…
What makes the frames unique, in every case, are the hands that wield the tools.
Mike Flanigan’s particular approach to bicycle design makes A.N.T., or Alternative Needs Transportation stand out from the rest.
From the smallest details.
To the handlebars.
Mike takes time to sculpt a bike specific to his client’s needs.
The end results are curvy and sexy; different from anyone else’s work. Unique.
This is where it all happens.
A small stand-along building in Holliston, Mass.
Is where Mike makes bikes. I want to thank Mike for opening his doors to us and showing us his workshop and I also want to thank the Geekhouse crew for taking me on an awesome ride out to see Mike. Keep on top of the haps over at the ANT Blog.
