Tyler Johnson took 3rd place at the Red Bull Ride + Style event in San Francisco this past weekend. He’s one of the long-time riders and over the years we’ve all seen him progress as he pushes himself and the sport with ease. He was one of the only riders to really step it up a notch, landing a few big and creative tricks.

Josh Boothby took 2nd place at the Red Bull Ride + Style event in San Francisco this past weekend. His mastery of 540’s, feebles, 3’s and flat tables stirred it up a bit. A local BMX rider, Josh made the switch over to fixed a few years ago and it shows in his riding.

Matt Reyes took 1st place at the Red Bull Ride + Style event in San Francisco this past weekend. Maybe it was because of his super fluid riding, or it could have been his mastery of dirt translating so well to the course. Whatever the reason, Matt blasted 3’s and flew through the course with ease.

Last night was the opening reception for the Red Bull Ride + Style event at the Oakley store here in SF. All the big names and familiar faces were there and it was a blast!

Red Bull Ride + Style will return to San Francisco for the third time on Saturday, May 4, reuniting the world’s best fixed gear racers and freestylers in Justin Herman Plaza.
The event also brings together four of the world’s top street artists — Risk (Los Angeles), Tristan Eaton (NYC), Insa (London) and Sam Flores (San Francisco) — through collaborative art on both the race course and the freestyle ramps.

This year for Ride + Style, Leader is teaming up with a few of the artists to paint and auction off a pair of 735’s. One of which is being painted by LA artist, Risk. Here are a few teaser Mr. Matt Lingo sent over. Nice photos man!

I met Hiro the last time I was in SF (which was RideNStyle) and followed his work, mostly via his Tumblr‘s RSS. It wasn’t until Tracko posted about his Flickr that I was directed over there. It’s damn good. So check it out.

In 2012, PiNP’s content was like a pinball machine. It seemed like every other month, I’d find myself in another city. Some familiar, some new, but I traveled everywhere with my bike and camera in hand, ready to see what was out there. Throughout these travels, I formed a lot of strong friendships with a lot of incredible people. Some of which have become my best of friends. We rode hard, we partied harder and somehow, I managed to keep the year in focus.

Fixie Famous, the blog that’s piggy-backing on a fun hashtag that Jonathan Davis coined, posted the first and maybe only video coverage we’re going to see from Midwest Mayhem 3. It’s really quick and to the point, focusing on some bangers from Antonyo (Warhol?) and Boothby.
All the major trick comps going down these days have a lot to owe to Midwest Mayhem. It was really the first big competition and the pivotal moment in fixed freestyle. After RideNStyle and other events went down this year, it’s easy to get hung up on the small turnout for MWM3, but I kind of like that.
I’m bummed I couldn’t make it out but it looks like people had a blast and a lot of these dudes are hanging out in Chicago for the rest of the month. Now the media blitz that will come from that trip will be off the wall. And even though I’m giving Fixie Famous a hard time about their name, I greatly appreciate this video…
… while I sort through a week’s worth of emails, Tweets, Facebook messages and other content. I love being on the road but playing catch up is no fun! We’ll start off with a RideNStyle video from Zlog. Check out more below.
Roll two from my last trip to SF was kinda all over the place. Terry from Full Frame Collective gave me a roll of expired HP5 and it ended up developing quite nicely. The photos enclosed in this gallery are as you’d expect from a weekend like RideNStyle. A lotta boozin’, late night cruizin’ and sightseeing. Enjoy.

I really, honestly have very little recollection of this roll. Rather than deleting a bunch of photos, I’m putting them all up. Sorry Crihs. With everyone in town for RideNStyle, Chas decided to have a party at the Messenger Mansion. As expected, a ton of people showed up for the band and the booze but stayed for the shenanigans. This included drawing all over poor Jerome and throwing water balloons as we downed a bottle of Bookers.
As the night got out of hand, Chas relocated the party to Dolores where a highschool prom had apparently ended. The rest of the night was spent convincing girls in sequined dresses to fly down a metal slide on a skateboard. Yeah, blurry night.

Remember the story about how Crihs stole my Icarus track bike after a killer party at the Messenger Mansion (more on that tomorrow) and sent me an Instagram ransom? If you don’t brush up on it here. So imagine my surprise when I just got a bunch of film back from SF and found this on one of the rolls. Amazing. Crihs, you really out did yourself here buddy.
Here’s the official video from Red Bull from the 2012 RideNStyle competition and as expected, it’s pro as hell! So many good clips in here, especially Addison’s gap on his Giant track bike and all the freestyle bangers.
