Remember the story about how Crihs stole my Icarus track bike after a killer party at the Messenger Mansion (more on that tomorrow) and sent me an Instagram ransom? If you don’t brush up on it here. So imagine my surprise when I just got a bunch of film back from SF and found this on one of the rolls. Amazing. Crihs, you really out did yourself here buddy.

Introducing Zen Grips
From my SF Randomness set
Photo by Matt Lingo for Zen Grips
I met Kit this weekend in SF for the #RideNStyle fixed gear madness that engulfed the city. He’s from SoCal and came up to promote his new company, Zen Grips and race at the event. Made by ODI, these grips are fabricated in the USA and feature a unique compound and grip pattern. Kit was riding them on his track bike and his FGFS team has been repping them hard for the past few months.
Head over to Zen Grips to check out more and don’t miss that Matt Lingo-shot set with Congo and Joe.

Merckx Mondays
I’m gonna make this a real quick one because my flight’s about to board. Yesterday in Dolores Park, I met Adam from Montano Velo, where he had his gorgeous 10th Anniversary Merckx road with him. This is a quick Merckx Mondays, but enjoy some more details below!

Dosnoventa Tokyo Carbon Fiber Track
We saw a few shots of the Dosnoventa track bikes in action during my Brooklyn Randomness post but I’ve been holding off on posting these photos up. Dosnoventa is a Barcelona-based company who have taken on making a track frame from the three materials of choice: carbon, steel and aluminum. The name translates to 290, or the bottom bracket height (29cm) for every bike in their line. The Tokyo is their carbon fiber model and this build was over-the-top to say the least. Rotor cranks, HED wheels and one bitchin’ paint job make this bike scream.

A Day in 10 Photos 04.01.2012
People always ask me why I don’t do A Day in 10 Photos posts that often anymore. My answer is simple: with the new blog format and gallery, it’s a lot easier for me to dump 40+ photos into a set and call it a day. ADi10P was an easy way for me to link to 10 important photos and then post more on Flickr but now, I have been putting them all in big photosets. Case in point are the “Randomness” posts I’ve been making recently. But today’s activities merited a return to “the” 10. And to be honest, this was only a few hours out of my day.
It’s summer already in Austin and with all the rain we’ve been having, the rivers, swimming holes and beaches are flooded. Both with water and people. Today, I took Murph from PDW and Billy down to the Greenbelt for some people watching and straight relaxing. Check out nine more photos below.

Levi’s 2012 Commuter Series Austin Party at Fast Folks
Last night was the Levi’s 2012 Commuter Series party here in Austin at Fast Folks. The event started off with the Hustle and Flow 6th street time trail and ended in a haze of booze and randomness at Cheer Up Charlies. Like last year’s event, people got loose and had a blast. Check out some photos below!

SYD_02.25.2012
Yesterday, Lauren and I went for a ride around the city. We always love going to zoos and so the Wildlife Center in the harbor is where we started our day. From there, we went to the park to catch the Sydney Zombie Walk and just kinda kicked around, lounging in the sun. It’s been a lot of fun spending time in Australia yet again. If you haven’t been following me on Instagram (JohnProlly), do so for more randomness.
Check out more from yesterday, here at my Flickr.

SYD_01.27.2012
Today was the first day we’ve had our bikes since we got to Sydney. Lauren and I woke up, made brekkie and headed out to the fish markets for a little lunch. Sydney’s got some elevation in its streets, much like SF. At first, I was nervous about Lauren riding here but she’s doing quite well. I also finally spotted some nice track bikes on the street. Next time I need to flag that dude down for a photo shoot!

Here in Honolulu
As I mentioned earlier, I’m in Honolulu with my lady visiting her parents and even though my “job” isn’t all that stressful, I’ll be taking it easy for the next 10 days. Out of all the touristy photos I took of the bay from our apartment, I liked this one the most. There’s something Corbusian about it that I can’t get over.
At any rate, I’ll be updating the blog, just on the Hawaiian timezone and expect it to be a bit calmer around these parts for the next week or so. Check out more randomness at my Flickr and if anyone here wants to meet up and let me shoot photos of their Beautiful Bicycle, shoot me an email!

Merckx Mondays
Well, the Tour is over and the Aussie Cadel Evans took home the jersey. It was a great year for the Tour and every stage had its ups and downs. Eddy, as per the usual, made a few cameos this year. When you look at him now, it’s easy to forget that in 1969, Merckx dominated the Tour de France where he won seven stages and grabbed the Yellow, Points, Mountains and Young Rider jerseys!

Tom LaMarche: Mixtape 01
Tom’s been filming clips for the past few weeks and here’s his first mixtape. As you’d expect, it’s filled with randomness and bangers. Solid dude. Can’t wait to see more!

Big Money Hustlaz is Molten Lava
Over the past year, Kareem from Death Pedal and Loose Nuts Cycles got some of the biggest names in fixed freestyle to shoot clips and randomness for a project named Big Money Hustlaz. Don’t let the high-end production artwork fool you, there’s no glamour here, just gritty street riding from everyone’s favorite rippers. Kareem, Torey, Jensen and Tom LaMarche are the headliners but just about everyone’s got clips in there. What I liked the most about the DVD is how each rider’s approach to fixed freestyle is highlighted. There are peg tricks, plenty of firecrackers, big hops, nasty falls and super techy lines. What I’m trying to say is about fucking time. Pick a copy of this DVD up here. You won’t be disappointed.

Oscar Khan and Tom LaMarche in NYC
Nose Bonk 180
Loss of Balance
Over the past week, there’s been a lot of coverage from these two. Tom LaMarche and Oscar Khan, two of the biggest rippers in the fixed freestyle world. Since it’s Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend, I figured I’d upload all of my photos from last Saturday. There’s a good mix of rolling around, all the freestyle photos and some randomness in there.

Event Recap: The 2011 NYC BFF Joyride Art Show
New York, New York. The 2011 NYC Bicycle Film Festival has officially begun. Last night, the dark and foreboding skies couldn’t keep the NYC massive away from the Joyride Art Show. Crowds descended upon Wooster street, bikes were Locked Up and free booze was to be had. I hung around for the longest I think I’ve ever at Joyride and managed to take some photos of the art, friends and randomness.

2011 SxSW Recon: Epilogue
So Chris sent me an email today, asking what I thought of SxSW as a whole. Since moving here in December, one thing I’ve been missing is density. On any given day in NYC, I would have to dodge at least a dozen close calls, shout at cabs, give pedestrians a “heads up!” and worry about my bike being messed with while it was occupying a street sign. With a few months of downtime, I welcomed an increase in all the above.

Spring is the Season for Suggestive Photos
I’ve been wanting to shoot this photo with a frameset for a while and what better time to do it than with my new Milwaukee Orange One road? Spring is here. That means A&T and flowers. Not necessarily in that order. I finally got around to shooting some photos of my bike this morning after unpacking it.
