Fast bikes with fat tires
Rando-rocketship, endurance all-road, ultralight tourer; affectionately referred to as the wiggle bike, the Night Moves is all of those things.
This frame is designed with smaller diameter Columbus Zona and Life double-butted tubes for a springy and all-day cush ride that doesn’t compromise efficiency. Without too much deviation from our proven Coffee Grinder geometry, a marginally less aggressive position is achieved to keep you comfortable and efficient on those all-day (and night) rides.
Tire Clearance & Wheel Standard
Shorter 418 chainstays maintain responsiveness while still providing recommended clearance for 700×38 (32 with fenders) or 27.5×48 tires. The frame utilizes a 12×142 thru-axle for the rear wheel and a 12×100 thru-axle with our Search Light fork. Our Searchlight low trail fork is perfect for front-loaded riding without compromising control or confidence in handling.
Cargo & Fenders
Night Moves has rear triangle and fork mounts for fenders and racks and is equipped with three bottle cages, mounted low to free up enough space for a frame bag
Lighten up
For those who want to forego the extra luggage (and low-trail design), the Night Moves can be equipped with a carbon fork (700c wheels only) for an upcharge making it an equally capable endurance road bike and plays well with 700×28-38mm tires.
Gearing and other things of note:
Being optimized for long distances over surfaces you would likely call a “road”, the Night Moves is designed for a 2×11 or 2×12 mechanical drivetrain. Front derailleur placement is set to be compatible with a 50/34 compact down to a 46/30 sub-compact. With a 38mm tire, Campagnolo 12-speed front derailleurs and early Shimano 11-speed units can end up being close to the rear tire. Labeled tire size does not always match the effective size, so compatibility may vary.

Rat King Frames Teases a Front Porteur Style Rack
Yesterday, Rat King Frames posted up a sneak peek at one of their powdercoated front porteur racks with “Happy Sunday, y’all”, referencing the inverted cross in the top hoop of the rack. Jason from Affinity sent over a new prototype mountain bike developed with Ashton Lambie. Ashton needed a bike to race the Lifetime Grand Prix on but didn’t like the options out there for one reason or another and the GP MTB was born. Specialized Soil Searching Raffle to Support K2N Race in Tanzania
As Fanie Kok puts it in the latest episode of Specialized Soil Searching‘s documentary series Keepers of the Land, “As mountain bikers, we play an important role in using our passion for the greater good. What does this look like in action? The K2N mountain bike stage race in Northern Tanzania is a good place to start.”
Currently underway from now until June 3rd, the K2N bike race generates funds to support community development and local training efforts on sustainable agriculture to help make the soil local farmers use more resilient, more fertile, and more productive.
In order to support the good that the K2N race is doing for Tanzania, Soil Searching and K2N are raffling a Turbo Levo SL Comp Carbon e-bike, with all raffle proceeds going directly to support community development work in Tanzania.
The fundraiser runs from now until June 8th. Raffle tickets are $10 each with 100% of donations going directly to community development work in Tanzania. Half of each raffle ticket will provide agriculture and health training to rural farmers along the K2N course, and the other half will be used to build MTB trails on the western side of Kilimanjaro in order to fund mountain, forest, and wildlife conservation efforts. To put this in context, a single $10 raffle ticket provides a half-day community training to one Tanzanian farmer and builds five meters of trail.
