MADE Handmade Bike Show Dates and Venue for 2023
MADE, a new industry and consumer bike event highlighting the craft of handmade bicycles, announced that the show will take place from August 24th to 27th, 2023, at the iconic Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon.
With over 170 builders and brands interested in participating in year one, MADE is already on track to become the most influential global custom bike show. The programming is specifically designed to support builders and reach new audiences, with August 24 and 25 open exclusively to industry and media, so journalists and professionals have ample opportunity to create dynamic content, connect with peers, builders, and industry leaders, and test ride bikes. For August 26 and 27, MADE opens to the public so anyone can experience, ride and meet the builders and brands who collectively make up the handmade cycling community.
To help increase accessibility and support the industry, MADE is offering new builders discounted or no-cost booth space, and event sponsor Bike Flights is providing reduced rates on shipping costs.
Builders and brands interested in attending should fill out the contact form at made.bike to secure space. Registration for MADE will open in January 2023.
Wizard Works Bags Now Available in the US

August Cycles Billet Aluminum Trees £35
The team at August Bicycles started making billet aluminium Christmas trees last year as a little collectible that people who enjoy their work can buy, so they don’t have to splurge on a full bike. They are an annual release with each year being slightly different from the last, but all being designed to work together as a display if people buy one each year.
August has a solid relationship with their machinist who shares sustainability motivations. So, he saves chunky drops of material throughout the year to create the trees just in time for Christmas. The drops would otherwise be recycled, but the process of recycling is in itself very energy intensive, which is why they try to use material as sparingly and consciously as possible. The trees are all anodized and made to last a lifetime, so you don’t need to try shove them up in the attic in January or leave them in the garden to rot!

Goodday + Curiosity Spacer Cradle Rack – $150
Are you sick of failed bar bag harnesses, bar clutter and general junk show-ness while bikepacking? Clean it up and make room on your bar for your accessories, lights, bells, aero bars, and your hands with the Goodday Spacer Cradle.
Install takes 5 minutes. Simply remove top cap, stem and spacers, slide cradle on where spacers were and then reassemble and tighten. Torque spec for cradle is 5 Newton meters.
The spacer can be customized to 15mm – 50mm tall, otherwise we make it 20mm. The cradle body is 230mm wide and is compatible with any stuff sack or roll top bag with a circumference of 760mm (30 inches) or less. The cradled has strap guides for quick on and off bag attachment, and 2 static straps are included with the order.
Weight is 190 grams, built from 4130 Chromoly with a black powder coat finish, and works with thread-less 1″ or 1 1/8″ headsets.

How Full-suspension Bikes are Made
Kiran MacKinnon is a human dyno. When Santa Cruz Bicycles needs to test, experiment, and validate suspension then Kiran is one of the main people we call on to do that work. Not only is he an extremely talented bike rider and incredibly knowledgeable about suspension, but he can actually interpret and translate what he’s feeling in a way that he can communicate to the rest of the engineering team. This enables them to cross-reference the data they’ve collected with real-life, on-trail experience to build better bikes and provide the right setup for our riders.

Mr Wooden is the new 650b rim brake frameset from Brother Cycles – a light-weight, fun, and zippy steel all-road frame that feels as good on country lanes as it does on hard-pack gravel here in the New Forest.

Stuff we see on the ‘net that causes pause…
As you have probably heard, legendary inventor and cycling pioneer Charlie Cunningham endured a serious head injury eight years ago. Charlie continues to suffer from complications and is struggling to regain his health. He is currently in an assisted living facility attempting to recover from a more recent injury. His wife, Jacquie Phelan, established a GoFundMe a while back to help with medical bills and we wanted to share it again, as any and all contributions will help this amazing couple as they face mounting medical bills.
