Mike over at Mash was out at the Bay Area Super Prestige Series races this weekend in SF with his team of rippers. You’ve gotta head over to Mash and check more photos out.
… of racing bikes and shooting photos. I hope everyone had a rad weekend! There will be lots to come this week on the site! Rubber side up!
Technically, they did cross at the of last season with the Worlds being in Kentucky. For this year, however, Manual for Speed will be covering the 2013 season in its entirety and you can head over to see their introductory first post, featuring the muddy, snowy shitshow that was the UCI Worlds.
See more at Manual for Speed.
Best of luck to everyone racing this weekend!
Head over to the House Industries blog to check out more photos from Charm City. I really love this photo of Dan, Brit and ATMO. Nice work guys!

With the increase in popularity of ‘cross in America, more and more photographers are making it out to their local races. Today I came across a few photosets worth the share. The first being from Lake Sammish in Seattle, shot by Andy Bokanev and the second being Rick Anderson’s coverage in Chicago. If you know of a local photographer, or maybe you’re lens savvy yourself, send your photos over and I’ll do my best to share them come Monday!
Well, it appears that cyclocross season is officially here. Best of luck to everyone who’s been racing this weekend! Rubber side up!
The 2013 Urban Cycling Hall of Fame‘s first class is filled with many talented individuals. Most of which you will know, others, you might not. Rest assured, this was one of the most tedious and thoughtful selection committees. We all truly believe that the people on this flier have given the most to urban cycling and in some cases, are continuing to support their communities.

Los Angeles is my favorite place to work. It has the best rides in the country (ATMO – that’s for you, Pablo), some of the nicest bikes and you can drive just hours away to be in the middle of some of the most beautiful landscapes the western United States has to offer. In the two weeks I was visiting the NRGSC, we rode hard, partied harder and yes, I even worked my ass off to bring new content to the site.
Sure, we’d all rather ride than work but sometimes, there is a bit of overlap. Moments like this are just too good to not share. Evidence of a big rides and the moment where you hit the coldest water you’ve felt in months. I can’t wait to see more of everyone’s photos from the past two weeks!
I’m not a racer, nor do I train. Cycling to me is mutually exclusive to racing and here in Austin, it’s something I try to encourage: just because you ride bikes doesn’t mean they have to be taken super seriously. Maybe that’s what my initial attraction to cyclocross was?
Sure, you can take ‘cross seriously, train, get down to race weight and kill it. But that gets old pretty fast. Riding bikes to me is an escape from my job and while I may always appear to be working while I’m riding, I need a way to shut off the world and just have fun.
I’ve been wanting to throw a fun and weird race in Austin for some time. All of the group rides I put on take people who are great cross racers and put them in uncomfortably “weird” situations. For me, being able to ride on a whim and trust your instincts is what makes a great racer…
Luckily, Jeff from All-City feels the same way.
Mid-November, we’ll be throwing a “Keep Cross Weird” race here in Austin. There will be an All-City frame up for grabs in the men’s and women’s categories, as well as a post-race sprint for cash. That entire week, we’ll be riding, getting weird and enjoying bikes off-road.
Basically, prepare to have some fun!
Los Angeles has been incredible. In fact, I think it’s safe to say it was my best trip here to date. We did big, big rides, got fast and loose, all the while having fun.
Once I develop my film and pull together all my digital shots, a torrent of content will continue. For now, I leave you with this photo I shot of Andy on our sunset ride last night. The iPhone’s not such a bad camera, is it?
… for bringing three friends even closer together. I didn’t have wifi all week at my hotel, so posting will commence tomorrow morning. Let’s just say, we had a blast!
… But Vegas is callin’. See you at Interbike. First, we’re heading to the “nothing” to camp tonight. See you at the show, I’m bringing the usual hydration.

Cross is here for a lot of the US and the MASH team competed in DFL #02 last weekend. Check out a race report at Mash!
I must admit, I’m a little disappointed that my summer travel plans didn’t swing me through Denver because I had so much fun during NAHBS. One of the highlights of that trip was getting to know Tyler from Pearl Velo.
Artcrank recently interviewed Tyler Hardie from Pearl Velo. Check it out here!
… the three of us are together in Los Angeles. Fyxo, Tracko and myself. Expect some radness to pick up momentum here shortly, for now, we’re probably out riding. Follow the guys on Instagram (linked).
LA is a callin’ and this time, a friend is there to join me in the radness that awaits. My flight leaves in a little bit, so I’ll see you on the other side.
