Yoshimura Cycling: All-New and Unique ENDH Stem

Today Yoshimura officially launched its ENDH stem, utilizing a unique design that can be used as a single crown traditional stem or as a direct mount DH stem. With stack heights getting higher and higher, Yoshimura decided to engineer a stem that provides a 35mm rise and takes up less steer tube overall. When changing stem lengths, you no longer need to remove the entire stem; just change to the longer or shorter mount set. That means no more forks falling out, and no need to realign the handlebars which can be a pesky task with short stems.

Have a DH bike? The ENDH converts to a direct mount stem. As a DH stem, length options are 45, 50, and 55mm while providing an 18mm rise. You can pre-order the ENDH stem for $199 at Yoshimura today for a Feb2022 delivery.

Specs:
Low stack height 23.5mm
Rise 35mm / single crown stem
ENDH system doesn’t require headset readjustment or handlebar realignment
Single Crown reach 37mm / 42mm / 47mm
Clamp Mounts are also sold separately
63mm handlebar clamp width provides better stability
All three mount sizes work with DH direct mount top clamps
Direct mount reach 45mm / 50mm / 55mm
Direct mount rise 18mm
173 Grams / 37mm, 191 grams / 42mm, 204 grams / 47mm

The Otso Cycles Fenrir Touring Bike is a Drop Bar 29er Stainless Steel Monster!

Reportage

The Otso Cycles Fenrir Touring Bike is a Drop Bar 29er Stainless Steel Monster!

Is it a gravel bike? A drop bar 29er? Or something else entirely? When it comes to the nomenclature surrounding these modern touring bikes, I often scratch my head, pondering an answer to this question. My usual inclination is to envelop these bikes under the umbrella of “adventure bikes” but then this bike landed in my lap. The Otso Cycles Fenrir is aligned with bikes like the Kona Sutra ULTD and the Moots Baxter but Otso did something different – i.e. better – than its competitors. The Fenrir took it up a notch and has utilized boost spacing wheels, which in my mind, put this in the drop bar 29er category.

I’ve had the Fenrir for a while now, have taken it on an overnighter, and have ridden some of my favorite mixed terrain routes here in Santa Fe with it. On washboarded sandy roads to singletrack, doubletrack, and gravel, the Fenrir is a hell of a bike and one that I really resonated with, so let’s check it out in detail below…

Sim Works Bubbly Pedal Ezy Superior Pedals

Sim Works Bubbly Pedal Ezy Superior Pedals

Sim Works‘ newest product announcement utilizes the MKS Ezy Superior System with its Bubbly Pedal platform. This system allows for these pedals to be quick-release. Why would you want this? In Japan, it became popular for Shinkansen users who have to break their bike down in a Rinko Bag. We did this with Sim Works on our Mt. Fuji bicycle tour a few years ago. Quick-release pedals make this process all the easier. Other uses could be if you have minimal space in your apartment for bikes. Sometimes removing pedals enables bikes to be hung on a wall closer to each other. For whatever reason you might have the Sim Works Bubbly pedals now come in the MKS Ezy system and are available now at Sim Works for $148.

Lachlan Morton is Auctioning Off His Alt-Tour Jersey

Lachlan Morton announced on his Instagram Wednesday morning that he’ll be auctioning off the jersey he wore for the entirety of this summer’s Alt-Tour, his solo transit of the Tour de France route, which he rode ahead of the peloton and completed the entire TdF route.

Lachlan plans to donate the proceeds from the auction to Pedaling Minds, a Louisville, CO-based organization that works in schools to teach students collaborative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and coordination through a program designed to build self-confidence, using bikes as tools for learning.

This is a unique piece of memorabilia of a kind not often available. If you think your readers would be interested, I’d be grateful if you’d share this opportunity with them. The auction will end at 5:45 am MST on Wednesday, Dec. 15, and no, he won’t be auctioning off his bibs as well!

Bid at eBay.

We Fixed Our Webshop

As you might have noticed when we dropped our Winter product last week that the UX for the webshop was not so hot. We rushed it to get the collection live and shipping as soon as possible since it had already been delayed for so long. Well, we have now had some time to massage the design a bit more. Now when you click on the Shop link, it’ll take you straight to The Radavist’s shop at The Pro’s Closet. We should have done that from the beginning but well… you know how it goes.

We’re also working on a Bikes and Gear sub-shop that contains my personal picks from TPC’s incoming queue. Josh and I will be updating this regularly with steel/ti bikes we think the readers would be interested in, along with other components, accessories, and bike frames. Since TPC gets in hundreds of bikes a day, this will make it a bit easier for all of you to see some fun and funky bikes that we catch as they hit the inventory.

Once again, thanks for your patience and if you have any feedback, drop it in the comments and I’ll take it to the team!

Brooks: Amani Project Migration Project Saddles

The latest special-edition saddle from Brooks England celebrates Kenya’s first official gravel event, the Migration Gravel Race,
which celebrated its first exciting edition in 2021welcoming top gravel riders from Africa and around the globe in an effort to raise the profile of cycling in Kenya and increase opportunities for African cyclists.

Limited to just 50 pieces, the Brooks C17 Migration Gravel Race saddle is an homage to the AMANI Project’s Timu Moja campaign. The term, meaning “One team” in the Swahili language widely spoken in East Africa, conveys the idea that in the drive for greater inclusivity in cycling, success for one East African cyclist, team or race organisation is success for all. Brooks identifies with the spirit of the Migration Gravel Race, and by purchasing this limited edition saddle you’ll be directly supporting the Maasai in their effort to maintain their beautiful cultural practices as well as the AMANI project in their laudable goal of making the sport of cycling more accessible to athletes from East Africa.

Following MGR2021, AMANI seeks to create cycling opportunities for the Maasai in particular through rider sponsorships and,
along with professional Kenyan riders, host a series of workshops at local schools where the riders could talk about how they cameto be professional cyclists and encourage kids to take up cycling.
