You could always come get wasted at Interbike…
This is the most legit race in Vegas and it has been since its first year. Who else would throw a drag race in Vegas other than Mash?
The 5th Floor is throwing a ride from London to Windsor and I wish I could be going!
All I’m gonna say is, I call dibs on Kyle’s couch! See ya in LA for the SSCXWC 2012.
The Brooklyn Bike Jumble returns tomorrow, to the Old Stone House. So bring your cash and get ready for some deals.

Last weekend was Lord of Griffith in Los Angeles. Taking place in Griffith Park, one of the largest green spaces within a city in the US, racers took to the Cat 3 climb on track bikes. Some had brakes, some didn’t but everyone showed up, raced and had a blast. Devon Tsuno has the only photos I’ve found on Flickr, so head over and check them out here.
There’s been a few posts up on Facebook, where someone who doesn’t race accused some racers of “cheating”. Look people, these are unsanctioned races. Of course people are going to cheat. If they cheat, they have to live with their own guilt, so let it be. The real reason why races are important is the sense of community and competition they build. If you “cheat”, then you really didn’t give it your all. In the end, everyone came out, as a community and had fun.
I’m glad to see so many people turned out for this event. I gotta make it to it next year.
Kris from Locked Cog continues his cell phone videos and this weekend, Deadwood brings the MAN UP! Fixed Freestyle Open to Palo Alto, Cali.
Shooting races with a 5D is easy compared to shooting with a Hasselblad. I finally got all my rolls developed from the 2012 Rapha NW Gentlemen’s Race and I’m very stoked on how they came out. This was the first real event I photographed with a medium format camera and it won’t be the last. Some of these came out incredible. For more information on the race, check out my last post on it for the rest of the photos, check out full photo set below.

Two great brands coming together to support four years of PDW. Be there!
Last year, the NW Rapha Gentlemen’s Race was one of my favorite events to document. There’s something classic about staring down a 200k, grueling, day’s-length ride and greeting it with acceptance, not anxiety. Each of the 26 teams this year were rolling fast and the course was even more epic’er than last year’s, totaling 122 miles and over 11,000′ of climbing.
The stage was Government Camp, Mt. Hood and included two loops through the countryside before ending with a gnarly 10 mile gravel climb. Reports came in of it being akin to a Civil War battlefield, with wheels and riders lining the road in shambles.
My day wasn’t nearly as painful, as I hopped in a support car and hung out of the window, taking what I could.

August 18th – 31st, Cadence will be at the DSM in London. Be there!
This weekend brings the Bike Jerks All City Championships. Be there! I need to make it out to this one of these times…
This in from Jake in Seattle:
“Premium Rush Race Friday, August 24th here in Seattle. It’s gonna be a fun quick race with a couple of twists for the opening night of this ever so epic bike messenger movie. The race is going to end a little after 8pm in the graffiti lot across from The Paramount Theatre at 8th and Pine St. Non racers and friends should meet everyone there to award the winners and go to the movie as a group shortly after. Movie times have yet to be released but we are shooting for a showing just after 9pm at the Pacific Place AMC (600 Pine St.). Hope to see you all there!
This race is to help fund the 2013 North American Cycle Courier Championships in Seattle next summer. For more info or if you would like to sponsor this or other NACCC fund raisers events email me : jakericker@gmail.com”
The 2012 Criterium Gijon is a back yet again. Check out the previous entries for last year’s coverage.
Track bike criteriums are really gaining momentum. Today was the 2012 Fixed Fest Criterium and it was unlike any race I’ve ever been to. The traffic in Jakarta is unpredictable, so could you imagine racing a crit through live traffic. Even at 7am on a Saturday, the streets were mobbed with scooters, taxis and busses.
But that didn’t stop people from all over the world to show up with their track bikes and race. I was amazed at the amount of pristine bikes ridden by teenagers in the U18 race. Once the main event started, the crowd was thick, so I hopped on the back of a scooter and shot photos. The main event was 8 laps around the downtown area, outside Rocket Company.
After the neutral lap, Walton, Marc and Chas broke out in front of the chase group, sending them to the podium. Walton finished 1st (even after wrecking), then Chas and Marc. It was a fast-paced race, filled with close calls with scooters and cars but everyone had a blast!

Last night was the opening party for Rocket Company‘s Fixed Fest 2012, Velo Vriday. The night kicked off with a film festival, prizes, drinking and a lotta Goldsprints. There was a great turnout and everyone had a blast!

Trimble Racing is proud to announce the Hatcher Pass Road Race to be held on August 4th, 2012. This unsanctioned 70 mile dirt road race will be contested through the beautiful wilderness of Alaska. The race will begin at the Trimble family cabin near the Independence Mine in the Talkeetna Mountains. After a neutral descent the race will start with a grueling two mile dirt climb up and over the famous Hatcher Pass. At the top of the pass riders will cross from the Palmer side to the Willow side plummeting down the Willow Fishhook Road, a long and technical gravel descent with endless switchback corners. After the nearly thirty mile descent the road levels for a few recovery miles. A checkpoint at the intersection of the Parks Highway marks the halfway point where the riders will turn around and start the long journey back to the Trimble cabin.
