I’m Filippo from Ferrara—the “Città delle Biciclette or “city of bicycles” Ferrara, Erasmus blog Ferrara—just a little south of the northeast corner of Italy.
This bike is a 1992 Marin Team Issue. I found the frame with those aftermarket black decals, the fork, and the headset; then my wife gave it to me as a birthday present in January 2020.
I built it to commute to my new job with a 1×9 mixed groupset and some used wheels, then the pandemic moved my desk forty kilometers farther, and I decided to rebuild it as a country-training machine.
Some changes: I switched from 1×9 to 1×10, drop bar and cantis, then a new job, rack, and -brakes again. I tried to picture the evolution here: La mia Marin Team Issue gravel/commuter/RestoMod/checcosè del 1992 – Caffetteria – FIXEDFORUM.it.
The bike riders stiffer and lighter than I expected; I can climb to Monte Grappa, ride downhill through the strada pastorale, while still having the options to mount rack and fenders for commuting to work.
